ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਿਹਤ ਤੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਭਲਾਈ ਮੰਤਰਾਲੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ ਕੌਮੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਕ ਸਿਹਤ ਸਰਵੇਖਣ 2023-24 (ਐਨਐਫਐਚਐਸ-6) ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਨੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਭਰ 'ਚੋਂ ਤੰਬਾਕੂ ਸੇਵਨ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਘੱਟ ਮਾਮਲਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਨਤਕ ਸਿਹਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਸਫ਼ਲਤਾ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਤੰਬਾਕੂ ਮੁਕਤ ਦਿਵਸ ਦੇ ਥੀਮ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Coinciding with the global observance of World No To***co Day, Punjab has scripted a landmark achievement in public health by recording the lowest prevalence of to***co use across the entire country, according to the newly released National Family Health Survey 2023-24 (NFHS-6) conducted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

World No To***co Day was observed today at the Office of the Director Health Services, Punjab. Officers and officials present on the occasion took the Anti-To***co Pledge reaffirming their commitment towards a to***co-free society. Posters for the campaign were also formally launched.

Instructions have been issued to all districts to organise awareness activities on 31st May 2026 to mark World No To***co Day across the State.

The theme for this year is: “Unmasking the Appeal: Countering Ni****ne and To***co Addiction.”

Let us join hands to spread awareness and protect future generations from the harmful effects of to***co and ni****ne addiction.

ਸਕੱਤਰ ਸਿਹਤ -ਕਮ-ਐਮ.ਡੀ. ਐਨ.ਐਚ.ਐਮ. ਪੰਜਾਬ, ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਘਣਸ਼ਿਆਮ ਥੋਰੀ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ 'ਐਂਟੀਮਾਈਕਰੋਬੀਅਲ ਸਟੀਵਰਡਸ਼ਿਪ (AMS) ਪ੍ਰੈਕਟਿਸਿਜ਼' ਬਾਰੇ 'ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਟੇਟ ਕਪੈਸਟੀ ਬਿਲਡਿੰਗ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਆਨ ਐਂਟੀਮਾਈਕ੍ਰੋਬੀਅਲ ਸਟੂਵਰਡਸ਼ਿਪ ਪ੍ਰੈਕਟਿਸ' ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕੀਤੀ । ਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਹੈਲਥ ਮਿਸ਼ਨ, ਸਿਹਤ ਤੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਭਲਾਈ ਵਿਭਾਗ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ECHO ਇੰਡੀਆ ਦੇ ਤਕਨੀਕੀ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਅਤੇ 'ਦਿੱਲੀ ਸੁਸਾਇਟੀ ਫਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਮੋਸ਼ਨ ਆਫ ਰੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਯੂਜ਼ ਆਫ ਡਰੱਗਜ਼' (DSPRUD) ਅਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਕਾਲਜ (GMC) ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਯਤਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਗੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ । ਪੰਜਾਬ, ਆਂਧਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਭਾਰਤ ਦਾ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਰਾਜ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਪਹਿਲਕਦਮੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ 'ਹੱਬ-ਐਂਡ-ਸਪੋਕ' ਮੈਂਟਰਿੰਗ ਮਾਡਲ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਐਂਟੀਬਾਇਓਟਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਰੋਧ (AMR) ਦੀ ਚੁਣੌਤੀ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ ।

Secretary Health cm MD NHM Punjab Sh Ghanshyam Thori launched the Punjab State Capacity Building Program on Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) Practices. National Health Mission, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Punjab is implementing the programme with technical support by ECHO India and, in collaboration the Delhi Society for Promotion of Rational Use of Drugs (DSPRUD), and Government Medical College (GMC) Patiala. Punjab proudly becomes the second state in India to launch this vital initiative after Andhra Pradesh, which aims to combat antibiotic resistance through a specialized 'Hub-and-Spoke' mentoring model.
