schools of the city. Two nursery schools are attached to this school. Children of 3+ years seek admission to Pre-Nursery and 4+ to Nursery class. The medium of instructions is English.The school offers Science (Medical and Non Medical ), Commerce, Vocational & IT to students up to 12th level and is one of the biggest senior secondary schools of the city. The school is fortunate in having a team of devoted and academically qualified teaching faculty who take teaching as a mission. The school helps in providing a favorable environment for socialization of the child, development of the spirit of independence and creating an identity of the child.

A meeting was held at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector-23A, Chandigarh on 18th October 2021 at 12 noon for association of volunteers of National Service Scheme (NSS) with the activities for prevention of vector borne disease. Dr. Upinder Singh Gill, Assistant Director, Malaria, UT Administration, Chandigarh through his awareness lecture and PPT presentation sensitised around 150 volunteers from 15 Govt. Colleges of Chandigarh alongwith around 25 program officers of this colleges. Mr. Sunil Bedi (Deputy Director I) and Mrs Neena Kalia (Deputy Director III) were also present.

Adding a string to the celebration of 75 years of independence, 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' Poster and Hand Paint Competition with the theme "Peace" was organised at GMSSS-23A, Chandigarh successfully under the able guidance of Mr Rajeev Kumar, Principal of the school. This competition, planned by Chandigarh Education Department provided a platform to the upcoming talent of the students of all Government Schools. Mrs. Nirmal Sharma, Principal GMSSS-37D, Mrs. Gurmeet Kaur, Headmistress, GHS Kajheri, Mr. Tony, Retd. Principal GMSSS-41 were the main judges. Students prepared beautiful posters depicting heroes of freedom fighters. Positions were also declared by the judges for both the competition.
