Remembering Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Ji & A Meaningful Initiative

On the sacred occasion of Shaheedi Diwas of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Ji, I had the honour, as a Member of the Punjab State Food Commission, to conduct a special programme organized by the Commission.

In the gracious presence of Hon’ble Cabinet Minister (Tourism & Cultural Affairs) Sh. Tarunpreet Singh Sond, and under the leadership of Sh. Bal Mukand Sharma, Chairman PSFC, we paid heartfelt tribute to the great freedom fighter whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire us all.

On this occasion, the Coffee Table Book of the Punjab State Food Commission was also released, highlighting the Commission’s work and achievements under the National Food Security Act, 2013.

The theatrical presentation “Main Bhagat Singh” beautifully showcased the life and ideals of the great martyr and deeply moved everyone present.

As a member of the Commission, it is a matter of pride for me that we are continuously working to ensure that the benefits of food security reach every deserving citizen.

I sincerely thank all the dignitaries and participants for making this event a success.

Had the privilege of conducting an important seminar on Food Processing and Agriculture-Based Industries at MGSIPA, Chandigarh, organized by the Punjab State Food Commission under the leadership of Chairman Sh. Bal Mukand Sharma.

Honoured to welcome Ms. Nina Tangri, Associate Minister of Small Business, Ontario (Canada) and Sh. Gurmeet Singh Khudian, Cabinet Minister Punjab, along with distinguished experts and industry leaders. The seminar focused on strengthening food processing, promoting innovation, and exploring global cooperation opportunities for Punjab’s agriculture sector.

Mr. Vijay Dutt, Member, Punjab State Food Commission, welcomed Dr. B. C. Gupta, presently Member, National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Government of India, at his office in Chandigarh. Dr. Gupta, who played a significant role in the formulation of the National Food Security Act, 2013 during his tenure as Food Secretary, Government of India, interacted with the Commission and held a detailed discussion regarding the functioning and implementation of food security provisions in Punjab. Mr. Vijay Dutt apprised him of the activities and initiatives undertaken by the Punjab State Food Commission for the effective implementation of the Act and the welfare of beneficiaries.🤝🇮🇳

On 11 March 2026, Mr. Vijay Dutt, Member, Punjab State Food Commission, conducted surprise inspections at various Government Schools and Fair Price Shops (FPS) in District SAS Nagar to review the ground-level implementation of schemes under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). During the visit, the functioning of the Mid-Day Meal Scheme in schools and the distribution of food grains through the Public Distribution System (PDS) was examined to ensure that the benefits of these welfare schemes are reaching the eligible beneficiaries in a timely and transparent manner, and necessary directions were issued to the concerned officials to maintain quality standards and proper implementation of the schemes.
