Chandel, 30 April 2026:
A week-long Inter-Unit Football Tournament 2026, organized by Chandel District Police, successfully concluded today at Thoruwl Turf, Liwa Khullen Sarei, Chandel.
The Molcham Police Station/MT team emerged as the champions of the tournament, while the ASP (Ops) Es**rt team secured the runners-up position.
Constable WL Gladson A**l of the ASP (Ops) team was awarded the Top Goal Scorer with 8 goals and was also declared the Best Player of the tournament. SI Angampa of Molcham Police Station received the award for Best Goalkeeper.
Addressing the gathering during the closing ceremony, Superintendent of Police, Chandel, Shri Dharmendra Kumar, IPS, stated that the tournament aimed to promote physical fitness, discipline, and unity among police personnel through sports. He appreciated the efforts of all participating teams and congratulated the winners as well as individual award recipients.
The closing ceremony was attended by Additional Superintendents of Police, Shri O. Sukumar Singh, MPS, and Shri TS Chamna A**l, MPS. Officers-in-Charge of Chandel Police Station and Molcham Police Station, Inspector Sanjoy Khanganba and Inspector Ng. Samson Monsang, were also present on the occasion.

Today i.e. 29/04/2026 at about 7:50 AM based on Input received from Chandel Police and corroborated from source of 17 AR regarding likely presence of War Like Stores (WLS) in general area of Khangtung village under Molcham PS, a joint search operation was launched by a Chandel Police and 17 AR to search the area. After extensive search of the area one of the parties found a hidden cache containing War Like Stores (WLS). Details of the items recovered are as follows:-
1.) 1 x 7.62 K-09 Assault Rifle plus 1 Magazine.

2) 4 x Single Bore Rifle.

3) 1 x Ma**er Style Sporting Rifle.

4) 1 x Shot Gun.

5) 1 x Sub Machine Gun (SMG) plus 1 Magazine.

6). 1 x Chinese Pistol plus 1 Magazine

7). 4 x Improvised Mortars (Pompi). 3 x Gr***des and 3x Detonators.
9) 5 x Baofeng Radio Sets.
10) 23 rds of 7.62mm.
11). 05 rds of 7.65mm.
12). 05 x 12 Gauge Cartridges.

The above recovery items were handed over to Molcham Police Station for necessary action. Hence a case has been registered under FIR No. 9 (4) 2026 MCM-PS u/s 25 (1-C), 5 Expl. Sub. Act and 6 IWT Act for investigation.

Today i.e. 24/04/2026 at around 7.30 AM based on input received from Chandel Police and corroborated from sources of 17 AR regarding likely presence of WLS in general area of Khumkot village under molcham PS , a Joint search operation was launched by Chandel police and 17 AR to search the area. After extensive search of the area one of the parties found a hidden cache containing War Like Stores (WLS). Details of the items recovered are as follows:-

1. 04 x Single Barrel Rifles.
2. 04 x Improvised Mortars (Pompi).
3. 07 x Improvised Mortar (Pompi) Bombs.
4. 03 x Gr***des and one Detonator.
5. 05 x Baofeng Radio Sets with 05 Chargers.

The above recovery items were handed over to Molcham Police Station for necessary action. Hence a case has been registered under FIR No. 8(4)2026 MCM-PS u/s 25 (1-C), 5 Expl. Sub. Act and 6 IWT Act for investigation.

Today i.e 10/4/2026 based on the intel from Chandel Police and corroborated from 43 A.R Salluk post a combined operation was launched under the supervision of SP/Chandel, 8 MR and 43 A.R Salluk post in between general area and jungle towards of Taijang under Chakpikarong P.S jurisdiction and recovered the following arms, ammunitions and explosives items:
1) One AK -47 rifle.

2) One MP-5 rifle(modified) with one magazine.

3) 4 Nos. of country made carbine gun with 4 Nos. of magazine.
4) 3 Nos. of country made single barrels.

5) 4 Nos. of Lethode guns.

6) 7 Nos. of Pompi ( country made mortar).

7). 5 Nos. of Pompi shell (explosives). One explosives suspected I.E.D making material weiging about 4 kgs.
9) 15 Nos. of 7.62 mm ammunitions.
10). 11 nos. of 5.56 mm ammunitions
11). 5 Nos. of Baofeng walkie talkies.
12. ⁠Hence a case was registered at CKG PS under FIR.No.8(4)2026 CKG PS.

On 06 April 2026 at around 07:30 Hrs based on Input received from Chandel Police and corroboration from own source of 17 AR regarding likely presence of WLS in gen area Road Track Junction Chakpikrong - Mombi – Joupi road near Mombi (Notified Area) a Joint search party was launched by Chandel police and 17 AR to search the area. After extensive search of the area. One of the parties found a suspicious hidden cache containing War Like Stores (WLS).Details of the items recovered are as follows:-

1. 01 x AK 47 Assault Rifle with 02 x Magazines.

2. 06 x Single Barrel Rifles

3. 03 x Baofeng Radio Sets with 03 Chargers.
4. 03x Improvised Mortars (Pompi).
5. 01 x Gren with Detonator.
6. 35 x 7.62 mm rds.

Today @ 10.00 AM based on intel provided by Chandel Police about presence of Arms and ammunitions and Corroborated by 17 AR. A joint operation was launched in general area of Molcham Cemetery astride MTNS road near village Molcham (Notified ).After extensive search of the area,one of the parties found a suspicious patch and on carrying detailed search, a hidden cache containing War Like Stores (WLS) was unearthed .The operation was continued to check for presence of similar caches in the suspected area. Details of the items recovered are as follows:-
1. 01 x AK - 47 with 02 x MAGAZINES
2. 01 x 9MM CMG (Burmese) with MAGAZINE.
3. 02 x Gr***de Detonators.
4. 01 x 7.62 mm SLR MAGAZINE.
5. 01 x MAGAZINE of 0.22 Pistol
6. 02 x CHINESE GRENADES.
7. 166 ROUNDS OF 7.62mm.
8. 28 x 7.62mm SLR ROUNDS. .
9. 05 x Baofeng VHF Radio Sets with 05 x USB Chargers.

Today, based on specific input from Chandel Police about smuggling of contraband items in a light vehicle (Tata sumo), a special mobile vehicle check post was placed at general area of Sehlon . The Mobile vehicle check post (1AR) carried out search of suspicious light vehicle plying on the road between Yangnomphai to sehlon.The target vehicles was intercepted and thorough search was carried out. During the search 410GMs of CONTRABAND (Tablets)were found in a packet hidden inside the dashboard of the vehicle approximately worth of 40 Lakhs (INR). The person driving the vehicle was apprehended.

1.Mr Lalremsanga (42) yrs S/o Ramfangzaua

Details of recovered contranband items
1.Contranband (Tablets) 410 gms.
2.1(One) Tata Sumo
3.Andriod Mobile Phone.Techno IMEI No-357833420567326 along with 01xAirtel sim card.

The above seized items and the apprehended persons were handed over to Molcham Police station for necessary action. Hence the case under F.I.R No. 05(3)2026 MCM-PS U/S 21/22/25/60 ND&PS Act.

Today i.e 10/3/2026 Chandel District Police gathered intelligence through it’s own sources regarding transportation of drugs at general area of Chakpikarong. Based on that an operation was launched by Chandel Police and 43AR under the supervision of SP Chandel and a suspected Eco Van with one male and two female occupants were intercepted at PVCP Salluk COB. After detailed checking of the vehicle and belongings it was found that they were going towards Moreh from Ccpur and were in possession of 58 NUMBERS of SOAP CASES of BROWN SUGAR and other items.
Details of accused persons.
1. Thaongminthang (34) of Moreh ward.No. 2
2. Nengboi haokip (48) of Khonomphai.
3. Ch.Nemneikim Mate of Khonomphai all of Tengnoupal District.
Seized items: 58 Nos. Of soap cases of brown sugar.
Rs.45200 in cash.
3 Nos. Of mobile phones, one Eco Van bearing R/No. MN06LX/4037 and other documents. Hence the case

Today, three officers of Chandel District Police — SI K.L. Beno A**l, ASI Md. Abdul Wahe, and Women ASI T.S. Thashel A**l — retired from service on attaining the age of superannuation.
On this occasion, a farewell programme was organized by the District Police, Chandel, in honour of the three retiring officers. The programme was conducted in a dignified and respectful manner to recognize their long and dedicated service to the department and society.
During the ceremony, Retirement Certificates and farewell gifts were formally handed over to the officers as a token of appreciation for their sincere contribution and commitment throughout their careers. The retiring officers also delivered their farewell speeches, expressing gratitude to the department, their seniors, colleagues, and staff members for the support and cooperation extended to them during their years of service.
The programme was moderated by SI T.S. Biren Monsang, RI/CDL, who conducted the proceedings smoothly.
In his farewell address, the Superintendent of Police, Chandel, Shri Dharmendra Kumar, IPS, conveyed his heartfelt appreciation and wished the retiring officers good health, peace, and happiness in their post-retirement life. The Additional SP, Chandel, Shri T.S. Chamna A**l, MPS, in his speech, highly appreciated their dedication, discipline, and valuable service rendered to the department and the society as a whole during their successful tenure.
The programme concluded with warm wishes and best regards from all ranks, marking the end of a remarkable chapter in the service careers of the three respected officers.
