Today, December 10, the Boko-Chaygaon Co-district administration organized a solemn observance of Swahid Divas (Martyrs' Day) at Gandhi Maidan in Boko. The day is observed across Assam to pay heartfelt homage to the 860 martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the historic Assam Movement (1979–1985) to safeguard the state's identity and dignity.
The event saw the dignified presence of key administrative and community leaders, who gathered to honor the memory of those who fought for Assam's future.

Shri Priyanshu Bharadwaj, Co-district Commissioner (CDC), Boko-Chaygaon, Shri Sonaram Rabha, Chairman of the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC), Shri Raben Deury, Assistant Commissioner, Circle Officers (COs) from Boko, Chamaria and Nagarbera revenue circles,Executive Members (EMs) of RHAC, The Principal of JN College, Boko, Ex MLA Shri Jyotiprasad Das, Various other officials and members of the community.
The speakers at the event recalled the valour and sacrifice of the martyrs, emphasizing that the spirit of the movement continues to inspire future generations to stand united and contribute to the welfare of the state and the nation. The administration's initiative to organize the event at the local level ensures that the history and significance of the Assam Movement are remembered and passed on to the local populace.
