Jharkhand on alert, know its prevention and symptoms in human of Eye Flu
RANCHI: Amid an outbreak of avian influenza in Bokaro earlier this week, the Union ministry of animal husbandry and dairying in a statement on Thursday said, “The state is advised to carry out the control and containment operations as per the Action Plan for Prevention, Control and Containment of Avian Influenza (2021)... Ministry of health has deputed their team for overview the surveillance in human sector.”
Though the outbreak forced officials to cull chicken and impose a ban on sale in some parts of Bokaro, the poultry market in the state capital remains unaffected. “It is business as usual for us. Our consignments are coming in from Odisha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and other states as usual. It is marriage season now and we have received bulk orders from caterers for parties. They have not cancelled their orders either,” Shoaib Ansari, the owner of Shoaib Poultry Farm in Purani Ranchi locality near Bada Talab, told TOI on Thursday.
The shop usually sells 100 quintals of chicken each day and its business has not dropped since the bird flu outbreak in Bokaro, its owners and employees claimed.
Symptoms of the infection among humans include severe upper back pain, fever, cough, shortness of breath, cold and blood in the sputum, officials said.
The Animal Husbandry Department has issued an advisory, urging people to inform it if they see dead birds.
