On 11/10/2023, the Rotary Club of Bokaro Midtown Couples organized an awareness program on gender-based discrimination (Gender Inequality) on International Girl Child Day at Madhya Vidyalaya, Harila, Bokaro. The program was inaugurated by the school secretary, Mr. Sandeep Tiwari, who expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club for consistently conducting awareness programs in schools.
Club President Amisha Agrawal emphasized that girls should have equal rights and wages as boys, from education to employment. Discrimination based on gender should not be tolerated, and girls and women deserve the same respect and rights as boys in our society. All the school girls were encouraged to voice their opinions and were motivated to fight against gender bias.
Rotarian Sajan Kapoor shared his thoughts on skill development for girls, stating that every girl should learn some skill. Nowadays, girls can enter any profession, whether it's as a computer operator, engineer, nurse, doctor, data entry specialist, chartered accountant, sales representative, or teacher. Every girl should aspire to learn or achieve something, which will not only enhance their family's respect but also contribute to society. Girls should be capable of managing their families when needed.
Club spokesperson Anup Agrawal expressed the club's desire for every girl to receive her rights, equal participation in society, and equal pay for equal work on International Girl Child Day. He emphasized that only when girls and women are treated equally, our country can progress.
Club Secretary Mini Kapoor shared her views on menstrual hygiene. She stated that the Rotary Club will continue to organize awareness programs like these to empower and uplift girls and women.
In this program, club members actively participated, making it a successful event.
