30th Bishnupur Mela 2017
Bishnupur Mela, a Govt. of West Bengal sponsored traditional festival of Tourism, Culture and Handicraft. From 1987, this fair is held every year from 23rd Dec to 27th Dec. Then it was public funded festival. From last few years this fair undertaken by Govt. of WB. This mid-winter festival attract millions of tourists from different states of India and abroad. Another attraction is the scenic beauty of laterite temples of Bishnupur; like Rashmancha, Jorbangla, Shyamrai Temple, Stone gateways etc, Terracotta handicrafts, Dokra craft, Dashabatar Tash (a set of mythological playing cards), Sankha (a brace-late made from conch), Tant, Baluchari Saree, and the enormous traditional musical raaga, Bishnupur Gharana make Bishnupur unique. This fair became one of the most awaited and crowd-
attracting festival in West Bengal.
In this year Bishnupur Mela will be opened by Smt. Dev Barma (Mummun Sen), honourable MLA of Bankura Municipal Area and the cultural stage, Jadubhatta Mancha will be opened by honourable Chairman of Bishnupur Municipality, Sri Shyamaprasad Mukherjee. There are 4 stages, Jadubhatta Mancha, Jamini Ray Mancha, Ramananda Mancha, Gopeswar Mancha for cultural program like Tusu gaan, Baul song, folk song etc.
All are heartly welcome in this festival.
