The discussion explored opportunities to promote greater understanding, appreciation and inclusion of tribal cultures within development processes. A valuable step towards building more culturally informed and inclusive development practices.

Celebration of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign: The Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign was celebrated with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at SCSTRTI, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on 14 August 2026. The programme brought together members of the Bhottada Tribal Community and officials of the institute to commemorate the national spirit associated with the Tricolour and to reinforce the message of unity and national pride.
Singing of Vande Mataram: Members of the Bhottada Tribal Community, along with officials and staff of SCSTRTI, participated in the singing of the national song “Vande Mataram” during the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign celebration at SCSTRTI, Odisha. The soulful rendition added a strong patriotic dimension to the programme and reflected collective respect and devotion towards the nation.

A one-day Capacity Building training programme on "Research Methodology" was conducted for Research Officials on 04.08.2026 at SCSTRTI by Prof. Dukhabandhu Sahoo. The programme was organized with the objective of strengthening the research skills and methodological understanding of the participants, particularly in the context of academic and field-based research.
During the training, Prof. Dukhabandhu Sahoo provided a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of research methodology, emphasizing the importance of systematic inquiry, scientific thinking, and ethical research practices. The sessions covered various aspects of the research process, including the identification and formulation of research problems, setting research objectives, survey & of reviewing of relevant literature, developing research hypotheses, and selecting appropriate research designs.

A 15-day live demonstration and 2-day capacity building training program for paddy craft featuring master artisans from the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Nabarangpur was inaugurated at SCSTRon 04.08.2026 by the Director, SCSTRTI, Bhubaneswar. "Conclave on PVTGs of Odisha Way-Ahead" has been organised by Tribal Cell, Lok Bhawan and SCSTRTI, Odisha where Community Members of all 13 PVTGs of Odisha, Research Scholars, Distinguished Academicians, Representative of NGOs and officials from SCSTRTI, Odisha participated to deliberate on Indigenous knowledge system, Cultural Heritage, potential and priorities of the PVTG communities.
His Excellency, Hon'ble Governor of Odisha interacted with all the representatives of the PVTGs of Odisha and highlighted the importance of awareness building among the PVTGs regarding the different welfare programmes initiated by the Government of India and Government of Odisha. Further Hon'ble Governor of Odisha stressed up on the need for initiating capacity building programmes for PVTGs for augmentation of their income and livelihood opportunities.

The 15-day Live Demonstration of Tribal Art Forms concluded today with an inspiring closing ceremony. The programme showcased the intricate Leaf Craft of the Bhumij community, Leaquer Craft of Bathudi Community, Idital Painting of Lanjia Saora and the traditional Beadwork of theKutia Kandha community, offering visitors a unique opportunity to witness the skills of master artisans. On the occasion, the participant artisans were felicitated by Smt. Sagarika Priyadarshini, Deputy Director, SCSTRTI and Smt. Sanghamitra Sethi, Asst. Director, SCSTRTI in the presence of officials and staff of SCSTRTI, acknowledging their invaluable contribution towards preserving and promoting Odisha’s rich tribal heritage.
