On 13th January 2025, a meeting was held between the Mr. Balaji, Member Secretary, National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), and the Member Secretary and Technical Experts of the Madhya Pradesh State Biodiversity Board (MPSBB) at Van Bhawan, Bhopal.
During the meeting, Mr. Ajay K. Yadav, Member Secretary, MPSBB, apprised the NBA Member Secretary of various initiatives undertaken by MPSBB for biodiversity conservation, capacity building, and effective implementation of the provisions of the Biological Diversity Act. Key initiatives highlighted included Mowgli Utsav, the State Level Biodiversity Quiz, and large-scale capacity building programmes for Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs).
MPSBB also presented a detailed response to the recommendations of the Expert Committee report of NBA, outlining the present status and way-forward action points, including the formation of expert committees for addressing various scientific and technical issues as envisaged under the Act.
The NBA Member Secretary suggested strengthening peer-to-peer learning mechanisms among State Biodiversity Boards for exchange of best practices. The meeting concluded on a positive note and was highly productive.
MPSBB also showcased the launch of Madhya Pradesh Pioneer Species Lapel Pins, which were formally launched by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh in 2025.
