Google Glass could be the end of Smartphones
Recent reports said that, Google's upcoming technology called Google Glass, a wearable computer in the form of eyeglasses with an optical head-mounted display (OHMD) being developed under Project Glass R/D will replace smartphones, tablets, i-phones etc. Those days are not more than 5-10 years away when machines that totally fit our environment instead we force ourselves to fit theirs.
Experts say that the device can record videos, take photos, chat, get directions, look up facts on the internet via natural language voice commands, and more. Still general public has to wait for the device until 2014. According to the reports 12 percent of the U.S. population, mostly the youth is willing to use these glasses in their day-to-day life. Soon people will be seen wearing the glasses walking down the way, shopping malls, streets etc. Google Glass will much likely be useful to those who seeks hands-free device like doctors, construction managers, farmers etc. Glass will most likely be running Android 4.0.4 Operating System on it.
Google has started engaging third-party developers to create apps directly for the device. Therefore Google released Google Mirror API. Glass is developed by Google x- a secret facility run by Google.
Project Glass been led by Babak Parviz, an electrical engineer who has also worked on putting display into contact lenses; Steve Lee, a product manager and "geological specialist".
