A new chapter in public healthcare begins at Barrackpore.

Cantonment Board Barrackpore is glad to announce that three major healthcare initiatives at J.C. Bose General Hospital were inaugurated today by Shri Saurav Ray, Principal Director, Defence Estates, Eastern Command, in the presence of Shri Barchaswa, Joint Director, PD DEEC; Col V.S. Billawaria, ADM Comdt; Lt Col A.K. Pal (SSO) and other dignitaries.

The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra (PMBJK) will provide affordable quality medicines, while the Ophthalmology and Physiotherapy Units, established with CSR support from ICICI Foundation, will deliver specialized and rehabilitative healthcare services.
Residents are encouraged to make maximum use of these facilities and support this public welfare initiative, as together we work towards a healthier, more inclusive community.

The 13th Raksha Mantri Awards Ceremony was held on 16 December 2025,at CHANAKYA Auditorium Delhi, NIDEM on the occasion of Defence Estates Day, to recognise exemplary performance by Cantonment Boards across the country.

The awards were conferred by the Hon’ble Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, in the august presence of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Defence Secretary, Director General Defence Estates and Financial Adviser (Defence).

Cantonment Board Barrackpore was privileged to be part of this prestigious national event, marking a significant moment in its institutional journey.
