🌱 *From Trial to Transformation: Growing Women-Led Livelihoods in India/Ladakh*

HVT Women Support Program
in India/ Ladakh, long winters, isolation, and limited access to fresh food make household nutrition and year-round livelihoods a real challenge. That is why HVT Foundation is taking oyster mushroom farming trials across 9 locations—Thasgam, Bimbhat, Lamochen, Jusgund, Kukshow, Karsha, Langmi, Techa Khasar, and Padum—to test a practical, low-space, low-investment solution that can work close to home, especially for women and remote communities.

📍 Trials in the Kargil- Drass sector are already underway, and the 4th location is now ongoing. More than a workshop series, this is a strategic proof of concept—helping us learn what works under local conditions, build community confidence, and prepare for scale.
The bigger vision is clear: start with household trials, document results, strengthen local capacity, and move toward women- and youth-led cluster models and community enterprises that improve food security and sustainable rural livelihoods.

🙏 Special thanks to our lead trainer *Mr Vijay Kumar Singh, and HVT volunteers Ms Sinjini Banerjee and Ms Diksha Gupta*, for contributing their time and effort on the ground.

We also thank *Humas Upliftment Organisation, National Rural Livelihood Mission Kargil, Women Forum Ladakh, SECPAD, village Lambardars, The Alps Guesthouse Padum*, and all partner communities for making this initiative possible.
This is not just about growing mushrooms—it is about testing a resilient, locally owned model for nutrition, dignity, and alternative rural livelihoods in Ladakh.

🌱 Follow this journey as the trials continue across Ladakh.

HVT Foundation Education Support Program successfully conducted an online awareness and capacity-building workshop on the Latest Updates on NEP 2020 for educators, principals, and headmasters across the Himalayan belt, covering participation from multiple northern states.

The session was designed to help teachers understand the evolving educational landscape, updated CBSE norms, NEP 2020 implementation strategies, curriculum reforms, assessment changes, and the practical integration of new policies into classrooms for the upcoming academic year.

The Himalayan region faces unique educational and infrastructural challenges, making it essential for educators to stay aligned with national education reforms and modern teaching methodologies. Through this initiative, HVT Foundation aimed to bridge the awareness gap and equip teachers with actionable understanding of:

• NEP 2020 implementation at the school level
• Updated CBSE and curriculum guidelines
• Skill-based and experiential learning approaches
• Changes in assessments and board examination patterns
• New-age teaching practices and policy reforms
• Future readiness for students in remote regions

The interactive session was conducted by Ms. Madhuri Sharma, Curriculum Designer, Storyteller, and ECCEd Expert, while Mr. Vivek Kedia, Education Department Head – HVT Foundation, co-conducted the session to ensure the initiative reached educators across the Himalayan belt effectively. Once again, HVT drives the outreach, engagement, and implementation focus of the program.

This initiative reflects HVT Foundation’s continued commitment towards strengthening education ecosystems in remote Himalayan communities by empowering educators with knowledge, training, and future-focused learning practices. We look forward to conducting many more impactful sessions and collaborative learning initiatives in the coming months.
