Types of Japa
1) Vaikhari
2) Madhyama
3) Pashyanti
4) Para
Vaikhari
The verbal chanting which is done in a high tone at the beginning is called Vaikhari Mantra Japa which is audible to everyone around.
Madhyama
The second is the medium. It does not even move the lips and no other person can hear this mantra it's a mental chanting.
Pashyanti
Chanting in which the tongue does not move, but is heartfelt, and our mind is absorbed in the meaning of the chanting, is called Pasyanti Mantra Japa, this japa is like you are visualising the mantra by heart or you see it in the Air. Pashyanti means to see or visualise.
Para
The fourth is Para. In this way of chanting there is a sense of mantra in the mind and heart but it's not Expressed instead the chanting and the feeling of the Mantra should be Suppressed, in this Japa our mind is prepared to become stable, and as we chant the mantra, we become blissful and the mind becomes stable in the Supreme Soul. This type of mantra chanting is called Para.
It is good to chant Vaikhari. But Madhyaya has ten times more influence than Vaikhari. Pasyanti has ten times more influence than Madhyaya, and Para has ten times more influence than Pasyanti.
If you chant any mantra while remaining steadfast in your meditation which is *Para*, the effect of your Mantra or any positive Affirmations will increase a thousandfold compared to Vaikhari way of chanting.
Some of the other spiritual masters say that, the difference between every type of chanting can be 100 times.
For example, Madyama is 100 times more powerful than Vaikhari, Pashyanti is 100 times more powerful than Madyama and finally Para is 100 times more powerful than Pashyanti Type of Japa
In this case Para becomes 1,000,000
(1 million) times more powerful than Vaikhari.
Be aware
any suppressed feeling or thought in a Negative sense can be as powerful as Para chanting.
"Yadh Bhawa Tadh Bhawati"
what you think in sub conscious level or suppressed thought might happen than what you think superficially over the surface of the Mind.
