This Diwali, don't wish your family and friends love and hope. Show them.
There's something radiant about a human soul that loves a dog. It possesses a heart that knows love outside the what's-in-it-for-me worldview. It presents that love as hope to a dog that knows love and loyalty, not as a transaction, but as the only way of being alive. Love and hope —the very two things the festival of light signifies. And, in short supply in our world today.
So, instead of wishing your family and friends words of love and hope this Diwali, show them. Make a video with your canine friends and share it with the people you care about. Tell them why you do what you do. Speak of what love and hope mean to you. How, in your everyday way, you make life better for yourself by making the life of someone else better - even if it's a dog.
Let that be your message to the world this Diwali. Not words but action born out of love and hope. You are the embodiment of both. Hope allows us to get up every morning in spite of the terror and tragedy around us. Love guides our action. Together they make a better world possible. Give the world a reason to believe in love and hope today - and the reason is what you do every day.
Make that video and share it. Unconditionally. With your whole heart. You are celebrating your love and hope. Do it with pride. Joy. Here is a word of encouragement, if you still need any: everyone loves a good dog video. YouTube is proof. :)
