Training sessions conducted across TCE’s departments provided participants with direct engagement with advanced instrumentation and its applications in laboratory, research and engineering environments.

From the inaugural session to the department-led practical sessions, I-RISE brought together the essential elements of effective research infrastructure: 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲, 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.

Every material has a story. To read it, you need to understand its molecular environment, its surface chemistry, and its nanoscale topography.

Through I-STEM LabLink, the Material Research Center at 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘆𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 (𝗠𝗡𝗜𝗧) 𝗝𝗮𝗶𝗽𝘂𝗿 offers access to advanced characterization facilities that help researchers explore materials at the molecular, chemical, and surface level.

𝗡𝘂𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗡𝗠𝗥) 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿, the 400 MHz JEOL ECS system, is a two-channel console with flexible broadband RF performance. It records spectra of a wide range of NMR-active nuclei, including ¹H, ¹³C, ¹⁹F, ²⁹Si, ³¹P, ¹¹⁹Sn, ⁵¹V, ⁷⁷Se, ¹¹³Cd and ¹⁹⁵Pt, in distinct chemical environments. Its low-temperature accessory enables variable-temperature measurements, and it supports 2D experiments such as COSY, NOESY and HETCOR.

𝗫-𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗽𝘆 (𝗫𝗣𝗦), the ESCA+ system from Omicron Nano Technology, delivers surface analysis of organic and inorganic materials using a high-power monochromated Al Kα X-ray source. It supports composition and chemical state analysis of surfaces, along with depth profiling.

𝗔𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗲 (𝗔𝗙𝗠), the Bruker Multimode Scanning Probe Microscope, offers standard operating modes including SPM, AFM, MFM, LFM and TM, along with nano-indentation and lithography. It can characterize mechanical to electrical properties, and determine surface roughness, height profiles and 3D images of nanomaterials, soft materials, biological samples and more.

Together, these techniques offer complementary perspectives: the molecular structure and environment of a sample, the chemistry and state of its surface, and the nanoscale topography and properties of its features.

Such capabilities can support research and innovation across chemistry, materials science, nanotechnology, polymer and organometallic research, biological sciences, electronics, and related fields.

Through I-STEM LabLink, these facilities can be accessed by researchers beyond the host institution, promoting shared infrastructure, collaboration, and wider utilization of advanced research facilities across India.
