On 5th March 2026, the Department of Animal Husbandry, Bandipora, under the able guidance and leadership of Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Mir, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Bandipora, distributed Single Cow Dairy Units among the selected beneficiaries from Chittibandy village under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) Scheme 2025–26.
The event was graced by Mr. Shabir Ahmad Wani, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Bandipora, who attended the programme as the Chief Guest.
During the programme, high genetic merit cows procured from outside the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir were distributed among the beneficiaries. The primary objective of the scheme is to enhance the livelihood and socio-economic status of the tribal population by introducing high-yielding dairy cattle and strengthening sustainable dairy farming in the area.
The Single Cow Dairy Units were selected by the Technical Committee of TSP, Animal Husbandry Department Bandipora, in close coordination with the beneficiaries to ensure transparency and quality in the selection process.
To safeguard the livestock against unforeseen risks, on-spot insurance coverage of the animals was also carried out, ensuring protection against potential losses due to mortality.
The programme was also attended by the LDO Sumbal, BVO Bandipora, representatives from the District Treasury Office Bandipora and Sheep Husbandry Department Bandipora, along with VAS TU and VAS LDC Chittibandy.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the efforts of the Animal Husbandry Department Bandipora in implementing the Tribal Sub-Plan Scheme in a transparent and efficient manner, which is expected to significantly contribute to strengthening the rural dairy sector and improving the economic well-being of tribal households.

On *January 26, 2026*, the *77th Republic Day of India* was celebrated with great enthusiasm, dignity, and patriotic fervor at the *District Veterinary Campus, Bandipora, LDO Complex Sumbal and BVO complex Dawar Gurez*. The occasion marked a solemn tribute to the adoption of the Constitution of India and served as a reminder of the democratic values, unity, and integrity that define the nation. The celebration commenced with the *ceremonial unfurling of the National Flag* by *Dr. Khalid Hamid Bhat, Livestock Development Officer*, at Veterinary complex Bandipora, Dr Abdul Gani Baba, BVO Bandipora at LDO complex Sumbal and Dr Izhar ul Haq, BVO Gurez at BVO complex Dawar in the presence of officers, officials, and casual labours. As the Tricolour fluttered high against the sky, the gathering paid homage to the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and reaffirmed their commitment to uphold the ideals of *justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity* enshrined in the Constitution of India. The atmosphere throughout the campus resonated with a deep sense of *patriotism and national pride*, reflecting respect for the constitutional framework that guides the country’s governance and social fabric. The event underscored the vital role of government institutions, particularly the *veterinary and livestock sector*, in contributing to national development, public welfare, and rural prosperity. While addressing the gathering, the significance of Republic Day was highlighted as a symbol of India’s transformation into a *sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic*. Emphasis was laid on collective responsibility, discipline, and dedication towards public service, especially in strengthening *animal husbandry, livestock health, and sustainable agricultural practices* for the benefit of society. The celebration concluded on a note of *renewed commitment and unity*, with participants expressing their resolve to work with integrity and dedication in their respective duties.

Today, on 16 January 2026, under the supervision and guidance of the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO), Bandipora, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Mir, an Exposure Visit was successfully conducted under the ATMA Scheme 2025–26 for progressive dairy and poultry farmers of District Bandipora. The visit encompassed well-established milk processing plants, organized commercial poultry farms, and commercial dairy units within the district, which have been established under the HADP, IDDS, and IPDP schemes of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Bandipora.
During the exposure visit, participating farmers were sensitized to modern milk processing techniques, value addition practices, and scientific methods of poultry and livestock rearing. The interaction provided practical insights into improved management practices aimed at enhancing productivity and profitability.
The farmers expressed immense satisfaction and enthusiasm, and highly appreciated this progressive initiative of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Bandipora, aimed at capacity building and sustainable development of the livestock sector.

Today, on 10-01-2026, the Department of Animal Husbandry, Bandipora conducted the draw of lots for selection of beneficiaries for establishment of Single Cow Dairy Units under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) 2025–26 in the Meeting Hall of the BVO Complex, Bandipora.

The selection process was attended by the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Bandipora; District Programme Officer, ICDS Bandipora; District Treasury Officer, Bandipora; District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Bandipora; Assistant Director Planning, (CPO Office) Bandipora; Livestock Development Officer, Sumbal; and Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Chittibandy, in the presence of the Hon’ble District Development Council (DDC) Member, Hajin-B, along with 78 tribal applicants from village Chittibandy.

During the draw of lots, 13 applicants were selected for establishment of Single Cow Dairy Units, while the remaining applicants were placed on the waiting list as per the serial order of the draw.

The Hon’ble DDC Member, Hajin-B, and the applicants from the concerned village expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the Department of Animal Husbandry, Bandipora, for conducting the selection process in a smooth, fair, and transparent manner.
