Today on 14-08-2026 Worthy Chief Animal Husbandry Officer ,Bandipora Dr Mukhtar Ahmad Mir visited Block Gurez to inaugurate the Artificial Insemination (AI) Programme at various centres of block Gurez.The Artificial Insemination Programme was inaugurated by Worthy CAHO Bandipora at FAC Wanpora,FAC Kanzalwan and Sub Unit Baghtore.The programme was attended by the Livestock Development Officer Sumbal, Dr Khalid Hamid Bhat ,Block Veterinary officer Gurez, Dr Mohmad Izhar ul Haq ,Technical Officer to the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Bandipora ,Dr Nasir Ahmad Buhroo ,Veterinary field staff, and local livestock farmers.
The visit marked an important step towards strengthening livestock breeding services and improving the genetic quality and productivity of local cattle in the region.During the visit, the CAHO highlighted the importance of Artificial Insemination in enhancing milk production, improving breed quality, and increasing farmers' income through scientific livestock management. He interacted with the field staff and livestock farmers, encouraging them to actively participate in the programme and make full use of the veterinary services being provided.
The inauguration of the Artificial Insemination Programme at these centres is expected to improve access to modern breeding facilities for farmers in the remote areas of Gurez and contribute significantly to the overall development of the animal husbandry sector in the district.

Today, on 23-06-2026, under the supervision and guidance of the worthy Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Mir, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO), Bandipora, the Round VIII Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) Vaccination Campaign was launched across District Bandipora.
All livestock owners of the district are requested to avail this opportunity and ensure that their livestock are vaccinated against FMD to safeguard animal health and prevent the spread of the disease.

On 18th May 2026, the Department of Animal Husbandry Bandipora distributed Artificial Insemination (AI) kits among the newly recruited Maitaris. The event was graced by the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Bandipora, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Mir, along with the Livestock Development Officer Sumbal, Dr. Khalid Hameed Bhat, and Technical Officer, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Buhroo.
During the occasion, the newly recruited Maitaris were briefed about their role in conducting Artificial Insemination in the field to improve the local livestock breeds through scientific breeding practices. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Mir directed the Veterinary Assistant Surgeons to effectively utilise the services of the Maitaris in the uncovered areas of the district, particularly in the upper belts where livestock rearing is widely practiced.
Furthermore, the entire staff of Block Bandipora, along with the Maitaris, was imparted training on the use of the NDLM portal for uploading of Artificial Insemination (AIs), Pregnancy Diagnosis (PDs), calvings, and veterinary infrastructure. The training was conducted by the District Level Master Trainer, Dr. Ishtiyaq Ahmad Dar.
The Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Bandipora also directed all staff members to ensure real-time uploading of departmental activities, including AI, PD, calving, vaccination, and milk recording of animals, in order to enhance transparency and efficiency in departmental works.

On 5th March 2026, the Department of Animal Husbandry, Bandipora, under the able guidance and leadership of Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Mir, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Bandipora, distributed Single Cow Dairy Units among the selected beneficiaries from Chittibandy village under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) Scheme 2025–26.
The event was graced by Mr. Shabir Ahmad Wani, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Bandipora, who attended the programme as the Chief Guest.
During the programme, high genetic merit cows procured from outside the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir were distributed among the beneficiaries. The primary objective of the scheme is to enhance the livelihood and socio-economic status of the tribal population by introducing high-yielding dairy cattle and strengthening sustainable dairy farming in the area.
The Single Cow Dairy Units were selected by the Technical Committee of TSP, Animal Husbandry Department Bandipora, in close coordination with the beneficiaries to ensure transparency and quality in the selection process.
To safeguard the livestock against unforeseen risks, on-spot insurance coverage of the animals was also carried out, ensuring protection against potential losses due to mortality.
The programme was also attended by the LDO Sumbal, BVO Bandipora, representatives from the District Treasury Office Bandipora and Sheep Husbandry Department Bandipora, along with VAS TU and VAS LDC Chittibandy.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the efforts of the Animal Husbandry Department Bandipora in implementing the Tribal Sub-Plan Scheme in a transparent and efficient manner, which is expected to significantly contribute to strengthening the rural dairy sector and improving the economic well-being of tribal households.
