The Apni Party Unit Sonawari today held a protest at Sumbal against the hike in electricity tariffs, highlighting the growing financial burden being placed on ordinary households.

The protest reflects our firm position that essential services must remain affordable and accessible to the common people. At a time when families are already struggling with rising costs of living, an additional burden through increased power tariffs is deeply concerning.

Public welfare must remain at the heart of every policy decision.

The voice of the people must be heard.

200 units of free electricity was the promise; a 6.83% tariff hike is the reality. The NC’s electoral assurances now stand in stark contrast to the burden being placed on ordinary consumers. Promises may win elections, but governance is measured by delivery. If 200 free units were genuinely promised, the people of J&K have every right to ask: where are they? This is a matter of accountability, not excuses.
