Independence Day Celebrated with Patriotic Fervour in Sumbal.
Sumbal, August 15: The 80th Independence Day of India was celebrated today across Sub-Division Sumbal with great enthusiasm, patriotic fervour and active participation of people from all walks of life.
The main function was held at Irrigation Colony Sumbal, where the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sumbal Murtaza Ahmad sheikh (JKAS) unfurled the National Flag and took the salute of the parade. The celebrations witnessed the participation of officers and officials from various departments, students, teachers, youth and the general public.
In his address, the SDM highlighted the significance of Independence Day and paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters and national heroes whose sacrifices paved the way for an independent India. He emphasized the values of unity, integrity, peace and communal harmony and called upon everyone to contribute towards the progress and development of the nation.
The SDM also appreciated the efforts of all departments, Police, educational institutions, students and participants for making the celebrations successful and befitting the occasion.
The programme featured a colourful parade, patriotic and cultural performances by students and other participants, which added to the spirit and grandeur of the celebrations. The event concluded with a renewed pledge to uphold the ideals of the Constitution and work collectively for a peaceful, prosperous and developed India.
