Independence Day Celebrated with Patriotic Fervour in Sumbal.

Sumbal, August 15: The 80th Independence Day of India was celebrated today across Sub-Division Sumbal with great enthusiasm, patriotic fervour and active participation of people from all walks of life.

The main function was held at Irrigation Colony Sumbal, where the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sumbal Murtaza Ahmad sheikh (JKAS) unfurled the National Flag and took the salute of the parade. The celebrations witnessed the participation of officers and officials from various departments, students, teachers, youth and the general public.

In his address, the SDM highlighted the significance of Independence Day and paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters and national heroes whose sacrifices paved the way for an independent India. He emphasized the values of unity, integrity, peace and communal harmony and called upon everyone to contribute towards the progress and development of the nation.

The SDM also appreciated the efforts of all departments, Police, educational institutions, students and participants for making the celebrations successful and befitting the occasion.

The programme featured a colourful parade, patriotic and cultural performances by students and other participants, which added to the spirit and grandeur of the celebrations. The event concluded with a renewed pledge to uphold the ideals of the Constitution and work collectively for a peaceful, prosperous and developed India.

Full Dress Rehearsal Held at Irrigation colony sumbal Ahead of Independence Day Celebrations

Sumbal , Aug 13:Syed Shabber Sarwar, Tehsildar Sumbal, hoisted the Tricolour during the Full Dress Rehearsal for 80th Independence Day celebrations at Irrigation Colony, Sumbal.

A full dress rehearsal for the Independence Day celebrations was conducted at Irrigation colony sumbal, on Thursday. Security personnel, police contingents, and various participating teams took part in the preparations for the August 15 function.

*Tricolour Spirit Soars in Sumbal as Grand Tiranga Rally Marks Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign*

Sumbal August 12: As part of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign-2026 and the commemoration of 150 years of Vande Mataram, a Tiranga Rally was organised today in Sumbal, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students, officials, civil society members and people from different sections of society.

The rally commenced from Irrigation Colony, Sumbal, and culminated at Degree College, Sumbal. Participants carried the National Flag with pride, creating a vibrant atmosphere of patriotism, unity and national pride along the rally route.

The rally witnessed the participation of SDM Sumbal, Murtaza Ahmad Sheikh (JKAS) , SDPO Sumbal, Tehsildar Sumbal and Hajin, SHO Sumbal, Commandant 45 Battalion Sumbal, ZEO Sumbal, Executive Engineers of PDD, Irrigation & Flood Control and R&B Departments, Sumbal, besides officers and officials from various departments. Members of civil society, President Traders Federation Sumbal, President Senior Citizens Council Sumbal, students from various schools, and Lumberdars and Chowkidars also participated in the rally with patriotic enthusiasm.

The rally highlighted the collective spirit of the community and reinforced the message of unity, respect for the National Flag and active public participation in the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign-2026.

Mega Parent–Teacher Meeting under Rehbar Initiative Marks Culmination of 100 Days Nasha Mukht Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan at GHSS Hajin Sonawari.

Sumbal: July 29, 2026: Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Hajin Sonawari organised a Mega Parent–Teacher Meeting under the Rehbar Initiative of the District Administration Bandipora, marking the culmination of the 100 Days Nasha Mukht Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan.

The programme was graced by the august presence of Worthy SDM Sumbal Murtaza ahmad sheikh (JKAS) , who was accorded a warm welcome by the Esteemed Principal, in the presence of respected parents, teachers, and students.

Welcoming the gathering, the Principal emphasised that meaningful parental engagement is indispensable for fostering academic excellence, character building, and the holistic development of students. He also highlighted the objectives and outreach of the 100 Days Nasha Mukht Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, under which the school conducted a series of awareness programmes and community-based initiatives both within and beyond the school campus to promote a drug-free society.

The meetings provided a vibrant platform for meaningful interaction among parents, teachers, and students on issues concerning academic progress, discipline, well-being, and shared responsibility. Valuable suggestions and feedback received from parents were duly noted for further strengthening the school–parent partnership.

Addressing the gathering, SDM Sumbal underscored the pivotal role of parents, educational institutions, and society in safeguarding the younger generation from the menace of substance abuse. He called for sustained awareness, collective vigilance, and active community participation to realise the vision of a healthy, enlightened, and drug-free Jammu & Kashmir. Similar programs were held at Govt girls high school hajin, Md memorial Hajin, army good will school hajin.

The programme concluded with a collective pledge to uphold the ideals of the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan and to strengthen the shared commitment towards building a responsible, resilient, and addiction-free society.

*SDM Sumbal Reviews Preparations for Independence Day Celebrations 2026*

Bandipora, July 27: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sumbal, Murtaza Ahmad Sheikh,(JKAS) on Monday chaired a meeting of officers to review preparations for the smooth and successful celebration of the forthcoming Independence Day 2026 across the Sub-Division Sumbal.

The meeting held a comprehensive review of the arrangements to be put in place for the national event. Detailed discussions were held regarding the venue, seating arrangements, invitation of dignitaries, flag hoisting ceremony, participation of contingents, band performances, cultural programmes, illumination of government buildings, medical facilities, fire and emergency services, floral decorations, sanitation, drinking water supply, Electricity supply and transportation facilities.

The SDM directed the concerned departments to ensure that all arrangements are completed well in advance and in a coordinated manner. He stressed the importance of maintaining the dignity and solemnity of the national celebrations while ensuring the convenience and safety of participants and the general public.

Regarding cultural programmes, the SDM instructed the concerned committee to closely monitor rehearsals and ensure quality performances reflecting the spirit of patriotism and national integration. He also directed the Education Department and other concerned agencies to introduce more students in contingents, bands and cultural items so as to encourage wider participation of youth in the celebrations.

The meeting also reviewed arrangements for parade contingents and directed the concerned departments to ensure timely rehearsals and proper coordination among all participating teams.

The meeting was attended by Tehsildar Sumbal, Syed Shabbar Sarwar, Tehsildar hajin, 45bn crpf, police , Block Development Officers, Executive Engineers, officers of various line departments, who briefed the chair regarding the status of preparations and assured timely completion of all assigned responsibilities.
