From Faskirmohan’s “Chatasali” to Fakir Mohan University through Fakir Mohan College, Education in Balasore district has traversed a long way. While in between 1850-1857, there were 839 Chatasalies at present we have 550 No. of High Schools, 1129 No. of U.P. Schools and 1456 No. of Primary Schools in divided Balasore District (Bhadrak District was divided from Balasore District in the year, 1990). We have also 38 Colleges and one University.

In the year 1563 AD a person named Coarser Fredrick, wrote a book on Balasore. Harbour during his voyage of trade and commerce, at that time there were five ports in Balasore.
1.Balasore, 2. Panchurakhi, 3.Cheda Khaee , 4. Talapada and 5. Eenchudi. Besides there were Baranga, Barbatia,Baliapal and Madanta.
