A Serious Concern for Authorities & Citizens Alike
This year’s Ganesh Puja in Balasore saw a wonderful rise in participation — truly a sight of devotion and unity. But the immersion process has also brought a deeply troubling issue to light.
As immersion processions pass through Fakir Mohan Medical College & Hospital, DJs are blasting music at unbearably high decibel levels. While some may see this as celebration, for many it is pure suffering. Ordinary citizens find it intolerable, and for heart patients and other sensitive patients in the hospital, this noise is nothing short of dangerous.
What precautions are being taken before permissions are granted for such processions?
Should festive enthusiasm come at the cost of public health and patient safety?
Festivals are meant to bring joy and togetherness, not to cause pain and disturbance. It is time for the administration to rethink, regulate and act responsibly. Balasore deserves celebrations that respect both tradition and humanity.
Let’s ensure our joy does not become someone else’s suffering.
