Har Ghar Tiranga: Independence Day 2026

Day 5 (15/08/2026): Kalipada Ghosh Tarai Mahavidyalaya NSS Units in collaboration with the NCC observed the 80th Independence Day.
The Chief Guest for the day was honourable Shri Anandamay Barman, Minister of State, Finance & Transport, West Bengal.
The day began with hoisting of the national flag followed by the March Pass by the NCC Cadets.

NSS volunteers participated in the following:
1. National Song led by Laxmi and group
2. Solo dance
3. Solo songs
4. Group dance

Day 4 (14/08/2026): Volunteers marched a rally from the college till Upper Bagdogra displaying the national flag and posters on the theme of 80th Independence Day.

Day 3 (13/08/2026): Volunteers helped putting up the national flag festoon in the college building. Following the theme of 'Har Ghar Tiranga' some distributed national flags in their locality.

Programme 1:
Kalipada Ghosh Tarai Mahavidyalaya NSS Units organized 'Drawing Competition' at Ramajote Primary School on the theme - Independence Day 2026.

All the participants were presented with small gifts as a sign of appreciation. Volunteers conducted the competition smoothly. Shri Tapash Kumar Sarkar, Assistant Professor, Department of History, shared a few words on the significance of our national flag.

It gives us much pleasure to share the news that Rimi Singha took the first position in Slogan Writing Competition. She will be now participating in the upcoming State Level Competition to be held in Kolkata.

Kalipada Ghosh Tarai Mahavidyalaya observed the Paschimbanga Diwas on 20/06/2026 through its vital wings NSS and NCC.

Special guests for the day were:
1. Shri AKC Singh, DIG, SSB, Siliguri Frontier
2. Shri Raj Basu, Ecotourism President, Govt. Of West Bengal
3. Shri Amarendra Pandey, Officer-in-charge, COFAM, University of North Bengal

The gathering observed the day by singing 'Bande Mataram' followed by the opening song by the NSS volunteers.

It was followed by the welcome address by the principal, Dr. Minakshi Chakraborty. Dr. Chakraborty emphasised on the beauty of West Bengal as a multi-cultural and mutli- lingual state. She also emphasized on the importance of brotherhood for the welfare of society at large.
Shri AKC Singh spoke on the significant role of West Bengal in the nation making. Shri Raj Basu drove us through the history of West Bengal and the potential the state has in ecotourism. Shri Amarendra Pandey spoke on youth of West Bengal and opportunities of development in tea and agricultural sectors.
Associate Professor Shri Sushil Mishra, from the department of Hindi, highlighted on the importance of West Bengal as a land of culture, art, and language.

We had speech by the NSS volunteers and the NCC Cadets.

The programme ended with the National Song.

Kalipada Ghosh Tarai Mahavidyalaya observed World Environment Day on 05/06/2026.

Activities:

1. Plantation in collaboration with NCC
2. Wall Magazine put by the volunteers of NSS Unit I
3. Speech: Dr. Minakshi Chakraborty, principal, spoke on humanity and an awareness toward man's contribution to nature. Dr. Basudeo Thapa, TCS, spoke on threats - man made, that need be addressed in our futuristic development. Dr. Abir. B. Majumdar, HoD Chemistry, talked on sustainable development and the role of man in making the future sustainable. Dr. John B. Turkey, HoD, Sociology, addressed the significance of plantation. Gaurav Dey, NSS volunteer, gave a speech on bleak World and a hopeful action in saving nature.
