Today, I inaugurated world-class sports facilities at the Sher-i-Kashmir Multi-Sports Activity Centre, Gindun, Rajbagh, Srinagar, marking a major boost to sports infrastructure in Jammu & Kashmir.

Developed at a cost of over ₹30 crore, the facilities include an Olympic-sized 10-lane swimming pool measuring 50 × 25 metres, an all-weather training pool for beginners and toddlers, and a modern gymnastics hall equipped to international standards.

These facilities will strengthen grassroots participation in aquatic sports and gymnastics, expand access to professional coaching, and help nurture young talent capable of competing at national and international levels.

Today, I chaired a meeting to review preparations for the third edition of the Kashmir Marathon, scheduled for October 25.

Featuring full and half marathons, a three-day Marathon Expo and a total prize pool of ₹3.17 crore, the event will also have a dedicated J&K Local category to encourage and reward our local runners.

I directed the Tourism Department to ensure seamless inter-departmental coordination, comprehensive arrangements for runners and focused publicity to attract participants from across India and abroad.

I also directed that future editions include an untimed fun run and virtual races to broaden participation and make the event more inclusive.
