**Forest Department Distributes Plants to Celebrate Eid Festival in South Kashmir*
In a green initiative to mark the joyous occasion of Eid-ul Fitr, J&K Forest Department organized a special plant distribution drive today in four districts of Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian. As part of its commitment to environmental conservation, free plant distribution of around 40 thousands of saplings were distributed by the Forest Divisions and allied wings of Forest Department in South Circle among the public, encouraging them to contribute towards a greener and healthier future with final culmination on 31 March. This initiative of Forest Department was widely appreciated and a great enthusiasm was seen among the public during plant distribution as well as plantation.
The events held today focused on prominent places/Eidgahs all over South Kashmir witnessed participation not only of elders but children and women, environmentalists, and community leaders. The locals were sensitised about the importance of tree plantation in combating climate change and enhancing urban greenery. This initiative aligns with vision of Forest Department of promoting afforestation and ecological balance. The locals said “Eid is a festival of giving, and what better gift than a tree that provides shade, oxygen, and a sustainable future,"
An appeal urging citizens was made to actively participate in such green initiatives and plant more trees to contribute to environmental conservation. Forest Department to celebrates International Biodiversity Day in collaboration with District Administration.
This was the follow up of the directions given by Dr Arshdeep Singh, Conservator of Forests Kashmir South Circle to all District Officers of all wings of Forest Department. The Conservator of Forests South circle thanked the public for taking part in the green initiative of the Forest Department.
