Bulldozers of hate : SIO denounces Assam's Islamophobic eviction

SIO strongly condemns the ongoing state-sponsored evictions in Assam, where over 3,300 families mostly Bengali-origin Muslims have been violently displaced in just one month under the guise of clearing forest or government land. The latest eviction in Goalpara, which left one person killed and several injured, is not an isolated incident but part of a calculated campaign of Islamophobic violence. These actions expose a regime that uses bulldozers and bullets against the most marginalised, branding them as “encroachers” while denying them legal rights, rehabilitation, or humanity.

This is not about law and order—it is about communal hatred being institutionalised through state machinery. The Assam government’s actions reflect a larger Hindutva project to criminalise Muslim existence and erase them from the land they have called home for generations. SIO demands an immediate halt to the evictions, judicial inquiry into the violence, and full rehabilitation for all displaced families. The politics of bulldozers and bloodshed must end. We stand in firm solidarity with the oppressed, evictions cannot become tools of ethnic cleansing.
