The problem of unemployment which when dug a little further will open eyes to the vast opportunity in front of us.
The Problem:
The fact cannot be denied, Mizoram is situated in the remotest part of a still developing country and the accessibility is a major problem because of the mountainous landscape. Yet, we are dependent on the mainland for our livelihood. We do not grow enough to sustain even our staple food, neither do we produce nor manufacture goods that can impact and uplift our economy. We have no industries to even export in significant quantities of the raw materials that nature has chosen Mizoram as its garden. These few and simple facts alone prove that entrepreneurs are not big enough to provide employment within the state.
Except for schools and colleges (and colleges are all taken care of by the government) there seem to be no big scale business for entrepreneurs. Thanks to these academic institutions, Mizoram is second most literate state in India. However, the awful fact remains the same for the educated group... there aren't enough establishments to hire them.
Another big problem we face in Mizoram is communication. Being the second most literate state in India isn't helping too much with communication skills, so finding jobs outside the state becomes a hurdle.

The Need:
We need to capitalize on whatever resources we have at hand to meet our needs within the state. With resources our capabilities and God given talents are included.
To become more global and better ourselves in communications both in English and in Hindi.
We need to be mobilized and to be taught to inanimate these two factors of our incompetence. The factors being;
1. Inability to utilize our resources.
2. Lack of Communication Skills.

SURGE is established to sharpen the skills of the Mizo youth and to utilize those skills to sustain livelihood.
