KARUNYA (Palliative Care) AYUSH Public Health Programme successfully carried out home-based palliative care services along with OPD consultations for cancer patients across Aibawk Block and Tlangnuam Block. The programme is carried out in association with Mizoram State Cancer Institute, Zemabawk, Aizawl.

Key services provided during the programme:

• Home visits to cancer patients
• Palliative counselling for patients and caregivers
• Panchakarma therapy for supportive and rehabilitative care
• Ascitic tapping and Ryles tube insertion for feeding for eligible patients
• Symptomatic and supportive treatment
• Guidance on medication adherence and home care.
Panchakarma therapy services were also initiated and provided to selected eligible patients as supportive care. Therapies such as Snehana, Swedana, and other appropriate Panchakarma procedures were administered with the objective of reducing pain, improving mobility, enhancing comfort, and promoting overall wellbeing in patients undergoing palliative care.

The 10th Ayurveda Day was celebrated in Mizoram at Aizawl on the 23rd of September 2025 . The Hon’ble Minister Health and Family Welfare Department,Govt. Of Mizoram, Smt. Lalrinpuii grace the occassion as chief guest. The function was chaired by Shri. H. Lalengmawia, Commissioner and Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Deptt, Govt. Of Mizoram. There was an attendance of more than 600 participants in the main function from various paramedical colleges. Introduction to Ayurveda and Case presentations were given by Ayurvedic doctors which was highly appreciated by the attendees. Various health department officials and NGO leaders attended the programme.

Today significant development concerning the healthcare sector in Mizoram. The National AYUSH Mission, Directorate of Ayush, Government of Mizoram, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ECHO India on September 17, 2025, to collaborate on capacity-building initiatives for the AYUSH healthcare workforce. This partnership represents a landmark achievement aimed at enhancing the quality of healthcare services and patient outcomes throughout the state. It is also noteworthy that this is the second AYUSH partnership with ECHO India, following the one with the Directorate of AYUSH Haryana.
We anticipate this collaboration will be highly fruitful in disseminating knowledge to AYUSH healthcare providers, thereby improving healthcare delivery at state of Mizoram.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at the office of National AYUSH Mission, Directorate of Ayush, Government of Mizoram, today and witnessed the presence of distinguished dignitaries:

Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India organised a two-day National Summit on the theme "National AYUSH Mission & Capacity Building of States during 3rd and 4th September 2025 at the All-India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi. The summit was chaired by Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Hon'ble Minister of State, Ministry of AYUSH.
This summit was attended by officials, experts and policy makers all over India.
From Mizoram, Pi.Lalnunmawii Ralte, Joint Secretary, H&FW Dept, GoM ; Dr. Lalthlengliani, Principal Director H&FW Dept and Director,AYUSH , Directorate of AYUSH, H&FW Dept. GoM; Dr.S.Mara Thansiami, Deputy Director,Directorate of AYUSH and Mission Director, NAM,Mizoram and Lalduhawma Chhangte Programme Manager, NAM,Mizoram attended the summit as state representatives.
The summit focussed on strengthening the National AYUSH Mission (NAM) with discussion on Financial Management, Monitoring & Evaluation, Project Management. In this particular Topic Mizoram and Rajasthan are selected as Nodal States, and presentation was given by the Nodal States. Other topics discussed upon were – Integration of AYUSH with Modern Healthcare Services including Public Health Programs, Organizational Structure Review, including HR Strengthening & Capacity Building, Quality Services under Ayush facilities including Infrastructure, IPHS Standards, Healthcare delivery, Quality Assurance of Ayush Medicines & Procurement System including Branding & Packaging, IT-Enabled Digital Services in Different Sectors.
