KARUNYA (Palliative Care) AYUSH Public Health Programme successfully carried out home-based palliative care services along with OPD consultations for cancer patients across Aibawk Block and Tlangnuam Block. The programme is carried out in association with Mizoram State Cancer Institute, Zemabawk, Aizawl.
Key services provided during the programme:
• Home visits to cancer patients
• Palliative counselling for patients and caregivers
• Panchakarma therapy for supportive and rehabilitative care
• Ascitic tapping and Ryles tube insertion for feeding for eligible patients
• Symptomatic and supportive treatment
• Guidance on medication adherence and home care.
Panchakarma therapy services were also initiated and provided to selected eligible patients as supportive care. Therapies such as Snehana, Swedana, and other appropriate Panchakarma procedures were administered with the objective of reducing pain, improving mobility, enhancing comfort, and promoting overall wellbeing in patients undergoing palliative care.
