​Before facing a risky situation like a fire or a chemical leak (Hazmat incident), it is absolutely essential to know if the gear we are wearing matches the danger. According to international standards, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is divided into 4 main levels.

​Level A (Maximum Protection)
​This level provides the highest level of protection for both the respiratory system and the skin. A Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) is mandatory, along with a Fully Encapsulating chemical protective suit that completely seals the body from any air or chemical gases.

​Level B
​While this level provides the highest level of respiratory protection (SCBA), it offers a slightly lower level of skin protection (Splash Protection). A Chemical Splash Suit is worn here to protect against liquid chemical splashes.

LEL = Lowest concentration of a gas in air that can ignite

Below LEL X Too little gas No explosion

At LEL→ explosion Minimum level to start burning/

Example:

What is UEL?

UEL = Highest concentration of a gas in air that can ignite

Above UEL β†’ X Too much gas, not enough oxygen
