On 3rd June 2026, GCCI through its Chemical Committee with the support of the International Trade Committee and Textile Committee, successfully organized a session on “Bridging Continents: Trade Promotion between India–UK & India–Argentina.”
The session was graced by H.E. Mr. Stephen Hickling, British Deputy High Commissioner to Gujarat & Rajasthan & Mr. Ezequiel M. Chabay, Honourable Deputy Consul, Argentina.
In his welcome address, Shri Rajesh Gandhi, Sr. Vice President, GCCI, highlighted the growing trade and investment opportunities between India, the UK, and Argentina, emphasizing collaboration across sectors such as textiles, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, gems & jewellery, agriculture, energy & innovation.
H.E. Mr. Stephen Hickling, British Deputy High Commissioner to Gujarat & Rajasthan shared insights on the India–UK Free Trade Agreement and its potential to strengthen trade, investment, technology & innovation-led growth, while Mr. Ezequiel M. Chabay, Deputy Consul, Argentina highlighted opportunities for expanding India–Argentina cooperation in agriculture, energy, chemicals, textiles & innovation.
Shri Chanakya Contractor, Chairman, GCCI Chemical Committee, delivered the theme address, emphasizing the immense potential for meaningful B2B collaborations and enhanced global partnerships.
Shri Apurva Shah, Vice President, GCCI; Shri Gaurang Bhagat, Hon. Treasurer, GCCI; Shri Niraj Shah, Chairman, GCCI Textile Committee; Shri Anil Jain, Chairman, GCCI International Trade Committee; along with GCCI Executive Committee Members & industry representatives, remained present during the session.
The session was further enriched by a presentation from Ms. Nandita Rajput, Senior Adviser – Investment & India Lead for Renewable Energy & Infrastructure (Investment), Department for Business and Trade, UK | British Deputy High Commission, Ahmedabad, who spoke on the UK’s Modern Industrial Strategy 2025 and innovation ecosystem.
The panel discussion was followed by an interactive Q&A session with participants. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Shri Anil Jain, Chairman, GCCI International Trade Committee.
