“Remote work doesn’t work.”
I have heard this many times.
But after working remotely for 8+ years, I believe the real issue is not remote work.
It is trust.
Recently, I met a founder who has been running a 100% remote company for 15 years.
No office.
No micromanagement.
No checking who is online.
Just clear goals, ownership, and trust.
His belief was simple:
“People don’t become productive because they sit in an office for 10 hours. Productivity comes from focus, responsibility, and outcomes.”
And that stayed with me.
Because remote work doesn’t reduce responsibility.
It reveals it.
When nobody is watching, your ownership becomes visible.
Freedom comes with accountability.
As Justin Wright said:
“You don't have a remote work issue. You have trust issues.”
Maybe the future of work is not about where people work.
Maybe it is about whether leaders trust the people they hire.
💬 What has been your experience with remote work — more productive or more challenging?
