Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has reaffirmed Ethiopia’s steadfast role in Africa’s continental journey from the Organization of African Unity (OAU) to the African Union (AU), with Addis Ababa serving as the home of the continental Union.

In a message marking the 24th African Union Day, the Prime Minister underscored Ethiopia’s commitment to the vision of an integrated and prosperous Africa, while looking ahead to the next frontier of collective progress.

In his capacity as the African Union’s Champion for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Health, Prime Minister Abiy called on Africa’s leaders and youth to embrace technological sovereignty and shape the continent’s digital future on its own terms.

He further affirmed Ethiopia’s readiness to build that future alongside its fellow Africans.

TEL AVIV — In a touching display of enduring friendship, the Ethiopian Embassy in Israel hosted a joint New Year celebration tonight, uniting the Ethiopian holiday of 𝑰𝒏𝒌𝒖𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒔𝒉 (2019 𝒂𝒄𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑮𝒆'𝒆𝒛 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒓) 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑱𝒆𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑹𝒐𝒔𝒉 𝑯𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒉 (5787).

The event highlighted a extraordinary bond between two nations, one that spans thousands of years. This deep connection traces back to biblical times, from the narrative of Moses to the historic union of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, whose son, Menelik I, founded Ethiopia’s legendary Solomonic Dynasty. These historic milestones, alongside the early traditions of the Christian church, form the bedrock of a unique shared identity.

Central to this living history is the Ethiopian-Israeli community. Having preserved their faith and heritage in Ethiopia for over two millennia, Ethiopian-Israelis now serve as a vital human bridge between the two countries. Their vibrant presence at tonight’s celebration underscored their essential role as cultural ambassadors, continually deepening the modern diplomatic and personal ties between the two nations.

As diplomats, community leaders, and friends gathered to usher in the New Year, the message was clear: a relationship forged in antiquity continues to thrive with shared hope, strength, and mutual respect for the future.

የኢትዮጵያ 2019 እና የእስራኤል 5787ኛው (ሮሽ ሃሻና) አዲስ ዓመት በቴል አቪቭ የኢትዮጵያ ኤምባሲ ተከበረ።

የኢትዮጵያ 2019 አዲስ ዓመት እና የእስራኤል 5787ኛው ‘‘ሮሽ ሃሻ’’ በቴል አቪቭ የኢ.ፌ.ዲ.ሪ ኤምባሲ የኃይማኖት አባቶች፣ ታዋቂ ግለሰቦች፣ ኢትዮጵያውያን እና ቤተ-እስራኤላውያን እንዲሁም የኤምባሲው ባልደረቦች በተገኙበት ዛሬ ጳጉሜ 4 ቀን 2018 ዓ.ም ‘‘የህብር ቀን’’ በድምቀት ተከብሯል። የበዓሉ አከባበር በኃይማኖት አባቶች ቃለ-ቡራኬ የተከፈተ ሲሆን፣ ክቡር አምባሳደር ተስፋዬ ይታይህ የአዲስ ዓመት መልካም ምኞት መግለጫ መልዕክት አስተላልፈዋል።

ክቡር አምባሳደር ባስተላለፉት መልዕክት ኢትዮጵያ ያሳለፍነውን አዲስ ዓመት የተቀበለችው ለ14 ዓመታት ያህል በግንባታ ላይ የቆየውን ታላቁ የኢትዮጵያ ህዳሴ ግድብ ግንባታ አጠናቃ በመመረቅ ነው። ዛሬ ታላቁ የኢትዮጵያ ህዳሴ ግድብ ከፕሮጀክነት አልፎ የኢትዮጵያ ማህበረ-ኢኮኖሚ አንቀሳቃሽ ሞተር መሆኑን ጠቅሰዋል።

አምባሳደሩ አያይዘውም በዓመቱ ከተከናወኑት ተግባራት መካከል የዲሞክራሲ እና የአገር ግንባታ አንዱ የሆነው ሰባተኛው ጠቅላላ ምርጫ እና በብሔራዊ ምክክር ኮሚሽን የተዘጋጀው ብሔራዊ ምክክር ጉባኤ በስኬት ማከናወን መቻሉን ገልጸዋል። ብሔራዊ ምክክሩ በአገራችን በዓይነቱ የመጀመሪያ ሲሆን ልዩነቶችን በሰከነና በተረጋጋ መንፈስ በውይይት ለመፍታት፣ ብሔራዊ መግባባት እና የእርስ በርስ ትውውቅን ለማጠናከር በአጠቃላይ ለአገር ግንባታ (Nation Building) መሰረት የጣለ ታላቅ ክንውን ነው ብለዋል። በተለያዩ የፖለቲካ ሊሂቃን የሚነሱ የፖለቲካ ልዩነቶች በኃይል እና በጠመንጃ አፈሙዝ ሳይሆን በክብ ጠረጴዛ በድርድር፣ በውይይት፣ በዕርቅ በአጠቃላይ በሰላማዊ መንገድ የሚፈቱበት ሁኔታ መሰረት የጣለ ለወደፊቱም ተጠናክሮ ሊቀጥል የሚገባው መሆኑን አስምረውበታል።

ክቡር አምባሳደር አክለው ኢትዮጵያ አዲሱን ዓመት የምትቀበለው ባለፈው ግንቦት ወር በተካሄደው አጠቃላይ ምርጫ ያሸነፈው ፓርቲ መንግስት ምስረታ ነው ብለዋል። አዲሱ መንግስት የኢትዮጵያን ፈጣን ኢኮኖሚ ዕድገት ቀጣይነት ሊያረጋገጥ የሚችል፣ የአገሪቱን ሰላም፣ ደህንነት እና አብሮነት ሊያጠናክሩ የሚችሉ ተቋማትን ለመገንባት እና ለማጠናከር የሚያስችሉ ፖሊሲዎች እና ስትራቴጂዎችን ይቀርጻል ተብሎ እንደሚጠበቅም ገልጸዋል። ከዚህ ጎን ለጎን ኢትዮጵያ በዓለም አቀፍ መድረክ፣ በተለይም በአፍሪካ ቀንድ እና በቀይ ባህር የሚኖራትን ዲፕሎማሲያዊ ሚና አጠናክራ የምትቀጥል መሆኗንም አስመረውበታል።

ኢትዮጵያ እና እስራኤል አዲሱን ዓመት በተመሳሳይ ቀን ለማክበር መቻላቸው የቆየ ታሪካዊ ወዳጅነታቸውን ማሳያ ምልክት ከመሆኑም ባሻገር ወዳጅነት እና አጋርነታቸውን አድሰው እንዲቀጥሉ መልካም አጋጣሚ የሚፈጥርላቸው እንደሚሆን አምባሳደሩ ገልጸዋል። ስለሆነም አዲሱ ዓመት ለኢትዮጵም ሆነ ለእስራኤል የሰላም፣ የብልጽግና እና የመልካም ትብብር ዓመት እንዲሆን በመመኘት፣ በዚህ ልዩ የአውደ ዓመት ቀን ለመላው ኢትዮጵያውያን እና ለመላው እስራኤላውያን (ቤተ-እስራኤላውያን) መልካም አዲስ ዓመት እንዲሆንላቸው ምኞታቸውን ገልጸዋል።

TEL AVIV: As Ethiopia celebrates Pagume, the special 13th month of the Ethiopian calendar that bridges the gap into the New Year, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed shared meaningful national updates celebrating the country’s strides in economic independence, defense, infrastructure, and unity. Marking a truly historic moment, the Ethiopian Embassy in Israel is preparing to bring both significant cultural celebrations together under one roof.

Reflecting on the days leading up to the New Year, the Prime Minister pointed to major milestones, including Ethiopia’s shift from reliance on agricultural imports to becoming one of Africa's top wheat exporters, key macroeconomic steps forward, and growing self-sufficiency in defense manufacturing. Pointing to flagship projects like the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), transformative city corridor improvements, and the upcoming Bishoftu Mega Airport, PM Abiy emphasized that Ethiopia's future rests on self-reliance, native values, and shared purpose through national dialogue.

This year’s festivities carry deep international meaning as Ethiopia welcomes its New Year (2019 E.C.) right alongside the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah 5787). This rare alignment of two deeply rooted calendar traditions highlights the enduring cultural and historic bond shared by the people of Ethiopia and Israel.

በትውልድ ቅብብሎሽ ያገኘናቸውን ድንቅ የሀገር በቀል እሴቶቻችንን በማጎልበት እና በመደመር ፍልስፍና በመመራት፣ ለጽኑ ኅብረብሔራዊ አንድነታችን የማይናወጥ መሠረት ጥለናል። ታሪካዊውን ሀገራዊ ምክክር የመጀመር የታሪክ እጥፋት ተነስተን፣ የሁሉም ዜጎቻችንን ሕይወት ከሚለውጡ ሰው-ተኮር የኮሪደር ልማታችን፣ የበጎ ፈቃድ ስራዎቻችን እንዲሁም የአረንጓዴ ዐሻራ መርሃግብርን በተግባር እውን እስከማድረግ ድረስ፤ ሁላችንም በአንድነት ስንቆም የጋራ ትርክቶቻችን ወደ ጋራ ስኬት እንደሚያሻግሩን በተግባር አሳይተናል።
