Amid Record-Breaking Defense Exports: Israel MOD Leads 15-Company Delegation to ILA Berlin 2026, One of the World’s Largest and Most Prominent Aerospace and Defense Exhibitions, Attended by Hundreds of Defense Delegations from Around the Globe

The opening ceremony of the Israeli National Pavilion took place this morning (Wednesday) under the leadership of the International Defense Cooperation Directorate (SIBAT) within the Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD), with the heads of Israel’s defense industries in attendance.

Israel’s participation in ILA Berlin 2026 comes amid a record-breaking year for Israeli defense exports, which surpassed the $19 billion threshold in 2025, driven in part by the expansion of the Arrow 3 deal with Germany.

The exhibition serves as an important platform to advance and deepen strategic partnerships – both with Germany and with other friendly nations across Europe.

ILA Berlin, held biennially at Berlin ExpoCenter Airport, is one of the world’s largest and most important aerospace and defense exhibitions, serving as a central arena for the international aviation, space, and defense industries.

The Israeli delegation is showcasing advanced Defense-Tech capabilities across a range of operationally proven domains, including: aerospace and space systems; air defense; unmanned platforms and counter-UAS solutions; radar and electronic warfare; AI-driven command, control, and situational awareness; and advanced homeland security.

U.S. and Israel Move to Redefine Their Defense Partnership, Launching Talks on a New Chapter in Defense Cooperation 🇮🇱🇺🇸

The Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) and the U.S. Administration have launched formal talks on a new security cooperation framework to replace the existing MOU, which is set to expire in 2028.

Leading the Israeli team, by decision of the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, will be IMOD Director General, Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Baram, working in close coordination with the Ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter. Counselor of the Department of State Daniel Holler and U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee will lead the U.S. team.

The two sides held an inaugural formal meeting this week. Further sessions are planned in both countries in the coming weeks.

The new framework, reflecting the strategic vision of Israel’s Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, is designed to strengthen the IDF’s qualitative military edge through expanded joint investment in research, development, and co-production, deepen the U.S.-Israel partnership demonstrated during Operation Roaring Lion, and gradually transition from aid to a completely reciprocal partnership.

All-Time Defense Export Record: Israel Crosses the $19 Billion Threshold

The Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) announces that Israel's all-time defense export record has been broken for the fifth consecutive year, with $19.2 billion in 2025 – a nearly 30% surge compared to the previous year, more than doubling in five years and quadrupling in a decade. As part of the Ministry’s defense export reform, 2025 also set an all-time record for government-to-government (GTG) agreements, totaling approximately $10 billion and accounting for over half of total deal volume.

IMOD Director General, Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Baram, and the Director of the Ministry's International Defense Cooperation Directorate (SIBAT), Brig. Gen. (Res.) Yair Kulas presented Defense Minister Israel Katz with the 2025 defense exports report, revealing that defense industries signed hundreds of new contracts worldwide throughout the year, with the support and guidance of the IMOD, totaling $19.2 billion. Over half of these deals (53%) were mega-deals valued at $100 million or more each.

Missile, rocket, and air defense systems continued to lead in 2025, accounting for over a quarter (29%) of total deal volume. Another notable surge was recorded in observation and optronics systems, rising to 22% from 6% the previous year.

Since October 7th, 2023, and throughout the past year, the IMOD and Israel's defense industries have operated under wartime conditions, maintaining round-the-clock production for the IDF while simultaneously fulfilling contracts for foreign clients. The unprecedented operational achievements – including during Operation Rising Lion against Iran in June 2025 – together with the combat-proven performance of Israeli systems across all theaters of operation, generated strong international demand for Israeli defense technology. 2025 continued the upward trajectory in defense exports, crossing the $19 billion threshold for the first time.

The sharp surge in Israeli defense exports, with particular emphasis on the record GTG figures, reflects the real-world implementation of the IMOD's strategy to expand defense exports as a cornerstone of ensuring the IDF's force buildup in a challenging budgetary environment, advancing foreign policy goals, strengthening the defense industry, and generating additional budgetary resources for defense.

With this understanding, and against the backdrop of sweeping global changes and dynamic market conditions, Defense Minister Israel Katz and Director General Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Baram initiated a defense export reform – encompassing the opening of new markets, the expansion of strategic partnerships with a range of countries, and significant easing of export licensing policies, alongside a strengthening and focusing of oversight mechanisms to protect classified assets and defense secrets.

The French government has informed the Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) of its decision to bar Israel’s official participation in the EUROSATORY defense exhibition, scheduled to take place later this month in Paris. As a result, the IMOD will be unable to participate in the exhibition or establish a national pavilion.

The French decision encompasses: a ban on government representatives attending the exhibition; a ban on opening an Israeli national pavilion; and a restriction limiting Israeli defense industries to displaying air defense products only, with offensive systems explicitly excluded. This policy is applied selectively and discriminatorily relative to other participating nations - in direct violation of the established norms governing international defense exhibitions.

This is a disgraceful decision, one that reeks of political and commercial calculation, and regrettably, it comes as no surprise. It fits a deeply troubling pattern in French conduct in recent years - a pattern that has consistently placed France on the wrong side of history.

France, which prides itself on the values of liberty and democracy, is acting in direct contradiction to the principles it claims to uphold. It is hiding behind a pretense of political justification to exclude Israeli offensive defense systems from an international forum - systems that have proven far superior to their French counterparts, and that have demonstrated exceptional precision and effectiveness against terrorist organizations and regimes threatening not only Israel, but regional and global stability at large.

IDF to Receive Two New Fighter Squadrons: Ministerial Procurement Committee Approves Acquisition of F-35 and F-15IA Squadrons

The Ministerial Committee on Procurement has approved the Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD)’s plan to simultaneously acquire two new fighter squadrons: a fourth F-35 squadron from Lockheed Martin, and a second F-15IA squadron from Boeing. The deals, valued at tens of billions of NIS, include full fleet integration into the Israeli Air Force, comprehensive sustainment, spare parts, and logistics support.

This is the first step in executing the IDF’s decade-long force buildup plan, approved by the Prime Minister and Defense Minister under a dedicated 350-billion-NIS budget.

Defense Minister Israel Katz and IMOD Director General Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Baram brought the procurement before the Committee as part of the Ministry’s broader strategy to strengthen readiness ahead of a demanding decade for Israeli security. The new squadrons will serve as a cornerstone of the IDF’s long-term force development, addressing evolving regional threats and preserving Israel’s strategic air superiority.

Following the Committee’s approval, the Director General directed the IMOD Mission to the U.S. to move forward with finalizing the agreements with American government and military counterparts in the coming period.
