On Friday afternoon, Ambassador Per Egil Selvaag welcomed an audience at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque for the screening of the Norwegian documentary The Mystery Package.

In his opening remarks, the Ambassador reflected on the power of storytelling to connect people across borders and cultures. Set against Norway's snowy winter landscapes, The Mystery Package is a story about curiosity, family, and kindness — themes that resonate far beyond its local setting.

We are proud to support the screening and to be part of DocAviv's outstanding program, which continues to bring compelling human stories to Israeli audiences. This year’s festival also features the Norwegian documentary I Follow Rivers, highlighting once again the strength and diversity of contemporary Norwegian filmmaking.

Our sincere thanks to the Docaviv דוקאביב team and all those who joined us for this special screening.

Happy (belated) from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Tel Aviv!

Yesterday we celebrated together with friends of Norway from across Israel.

In his speech, the Ambassador recalled that Norway’s Constitution rests on the sovereignty of the people, the separation of powers, and the protection of human rights – values that continue to guide Norwegian policy at home and abroad. He also underlined Norway’s commitment to peace, international law, and the fight against antisemitism, and noted the importance of working to create the conditions for broadened and deepened dialogue and cooperation between Norway and Israel.

Thank you to all who joined us for this celebration!

Ambassador Selvaag had the privilege of meeting Abraham Levi (85), whose remarkable life journey spans Morocco, Norway and Israel.

His book traces his family’s story from the mellah in Meknes to a community of Moroccan Jews outside Oslo to Kibbutz HaZore’a. A life story about migration, memory, resilience and identity.

As we approach both Passover and Easter, we send our warmest wishes to everyone celebrating.
This year, as we in Israel face difficult times, the message of hope, resilience, and renewal carries special meaning.
We wish you and your families a peaceful and meaningful holiday.

Please note that the Embassy will be closed from and including 1 April for the Passover holiday period and will reopen on 9 April.

Thank you for your understanding.

חג שמח 🕊️✨

Congratulations to the Norwegian film Sentimental Value on winning the Oscar for Best International Feature Film—the first Norwegian film ever to receive this award. We are proud that this remarkable film also opened the Jerusalem Film Festival in 2025, giving Israeli audiences an early opportunity to experience it on the big screen.
In these challenging times, with war continuing in the Middle East, moments of art and cinema remind us of the importance of creativity and powerful human stories. Congratulations to everyone involved in this wonderful achievement.

Sikkerhetssituasjonen i Midtøsten er uoversiktlig og alvorlig etter eskaleringen i konflikten mellom Israel, USA og Iran. We had a great time representing Norway at the Global Village event at The Walworth Barbour American International School in Israel (WBAIS) in Even Yehuda this week! 🇳🇴✨
Many Israeli and international students stopped by our Norway booth to learn a bit about our country—everything from nature and culture to daily life up north. And of course: They got to try real Norwegian brown cheese (brunost!)! 🧀The reactions were priceless and mostly very positive (did you know that you can buy Norwegian brown cheese in certain cheese shops in Israel?). Thanks for having us!

The Embassy had the pleasure of hosting students from the Tel Aviv University | אוניברסיטת תל-אביב Model United Nations Society (TAUMUN).

During the visit, we spoke about Norwegian foreign policy, including in the Middle East and in Israel, and were impressed by the students’ insightful questions, sharp reflections, and eagerness to engage in meaningful dialogue. It was a truly inspiring group to meet with.

We extend our warm thanks to TAUMUN for an enriching exchange and for bringing such an enthusiastic group of students to the Embassy!
