Today, eight years ago, on May 14, 2018, exactly 70 years after prime minister David Ben-Gurion declared Israel’s independence, the American flag was raised above the United States’ new embassy in Jerusalem

For Israel, this was not merely a diplomatic gesture. It was a historic correction and a clear recognition of reality: Jerusalem has always been the capital of the Jewish people and will always remain the capital of the State of Israel.

In this article on Jerusalem Post Shimon Refaeli, the Deputy Chairman of the Institute for Security Policy of the IDSF explains why President Trump’s decision was more than symbolic. It proved that peace cannot be built on denial, ambiguity, or fear of international pressure, but on truth, courage, and respect for historical reality.

The IDSF Movement strongly condemns the decision by the European Union’s Foreign Ministers to advance sanctions against Israeli citizens in Judea and Samaria.

This is a political, one-sided and dangerous move that undermines Israel’s sovereignty and its right to enforce its laws through its own democratic institutions.

Israel is a state governed by the rule of law, with an independent judicial system that handles every offense according to Israeli law. No foreign country or international body has the authority to replace the discretion of Israeli law enforcement with external political punishment.

We also reject the attempt to label an entire public in Judea and Samaria as responsible for “settler violence.” At the same time, the IDSF Movement strongly condemns all nationalist crime and violence against innocent civilians. Such acts contradict Israel’s values and harm its security, international standing and the settlement enterprise itself.

Instead of lecturing Israel, which since October 7 has stood on the front line of the free world’s struggle against Islamist terrorism, European leaders should focus on restoring security to their own citizens and confronting the growing violence within Europe.

The attempt to create moral equivalence between Israeli citizens and terrorist organizations such as Hamas is a grave moral and diplomatic distortion.

Israel will continue to defend its citizens, its security and its sovereign right to act according to its laws and national interests.

Six Years Too Late

Six years after the murder of Golani Reconnaissance Unit fighter Staff Sergeant Amit Ben Yigal, of blessed memory, the terrorist who threw a concrete block at him from the roof of his home, causing his death, was convicted in court.

Amit fell during an operational activity in the village of Ya'bad in May 2020, while defending the security of Israeli citizens. Since then, his family has had to bear not only the pain of the loss, but also long years of ongoing legal proceedings.

Throwing a stone at soldiers and civilians is not a “disturbance of order.” It is terrorism in every sense of the word. Anyone who throws a concrete block from a rooftop at a person knows very well that it can kill, and therefore the legal system and the fighters on the ground must treat stone-throwing as a lethal threat.

A conviction is an important step, but justice that arrives after six years is not enough. In the face of terrorism, there must stand a determined, swift, and clear judicial system, one that sends a sharp message to every terrorist and to all who assist them: the State of Israel will pursue those who seek its destruction, bring them to justice, and will not allow terrorism to raise its head.

The IDSF Movement embraces the Ben Yigal family and salutes Amit, a brave fighter who fell in service of the people and the State of Israel.

May his memory be a blessing.

Today, we had the honor to meet with Ambassador Mike Huckabee to present our strategic vision for the ongoing campaign against the Iranian axis. We discussed the parameters of what would constitute a 'bad deal' with Iran and emphasized the strategic necessity of establishing consequential Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria, the Negev, the Galilee, and throughout the State of Israel.

A deeply moving moment occurred as we stood together with the Ambassador discussing strategies of how the combined efforts the US and Israel to combat evil and tyranny in the US Embassy, we interrupted our meeting to listen to the Holocaust Remembrance Day siren (Yom HaShoah), a powerful reminder of our shared commitment to 'Never Again.'

To conclude, we presented the Ambassador with a token of appreciation symbolizing the unbreakable alliance between our militaries: a commemorative 'beeper,' honoring the ingenuity and courage of those who defend our freedom.

"...if that decisive moment arrives, it will likely not come from the clouds above but from the streets below."

Lt. Col. (res.), CEO of IDSF Yaron Buskila weighs in on the limits of air power. After two weeks of intensive strikes on Iran, he argues that shattering infrastructure is only half the battle.

To truly dismantle a regime, history suggests the decisive blow doesn’t come from the clouds, it comes from the streets.

Cracking the "Shia Code": Why Western logic fails to predict Iranian strategy.

Col. (Res.) Tal Braun, a Senior Fellow at the David Institute of IDSF, analyzes the profound gap between Western rationalism and the religious-apocalyptic narrative driving the Iranian regime. The article explores how historical events, such as the Battle of Karbala, shape Tehran’s view of modern leaders as "modern-day tyrants" and redefine diplomatic agreements as mere temporary truces ("Hudna").

Understanding this theological infrastructure is essential for accurately assessing regional stability and the regime's long-term intentions regarding nuclear ambitions and proxy warfare.

“As Churchill said, we are seeing the beginning of the end.”

The strikes deep inside Iran did not happen overnight.

They are the outcome of years of systematic and multi-layered intelligence gathering:
Human intelligence, advanced technology, cyber capabilities, and deep pe*******on into the Iranian regime’s systems.
