Lev Echad was founded with the understanding that during times of need, national and municipal welfare organizations rely on a large number of volunteers, who must be trained, devoted and resourceful, and able to complete a variety of tasks in order to provide local welfare assistance. Lev Echad is an all-volunteer, non-profit operation and relies on donations to continue its critical activities. Lev Echad understands that during emergencies, civilians who actively volunteer are not only able to leave the mindset of passive victims and create social resilience, but also add significant amounts of manpower to the local authorities – provided that they operate in an organized, efficient manner. Lev Echad provides opportunities for people to take positive measures in order to make our families, our homes and our communities safer from the threats of war, terrorism and emergency situations of all kinds. Objectives:
- Ongoing coordination with local welfare authorities, including the Home Front Command and Israel Trauma Coalition, as well as local municipalities, in order to provide welfare assistance at times of local emergencies
- Create operation methods for volunteers based on various possible scenarios
- Collect and develop information regarding emergency situations, their impact on civilian populations, and ways to provide effective welfare solutions
- Teach principles of welfare solutions in emergencies to organizations and institutions
- Approach organizations and institutions with proposals to create a joint emergency doctrine
- Encourage the willingness, empathy and resourcefulness of the Israeli population in order to operate efficiently during times of need
- Handle emergencies in cooperation with professionals such as the Police Force, Magen David Adom (MDA) and the Fire Department
