🚒🔥 FIRE SAFETY WEEK – FRIDAY 🔥🚒

🏠 A SAFE ESCAPE STARTS WITH A PLAN!

As Fire Safety Week comes to a close, we here at Youghal Fire & Rescue want to leave you with one final message.
🔥 If a fire broke out in your home tonight, would you and your family know what to do?
A few simple steps today could save lives tomorrow!
✅ Test your smoke alarms – Make sure they're working and ready to warn you.
✅ Keep escape routes clear – Hallways, stairs and exits should always be free from obstacles.
✅ Close doors before bed – A closed door can help slow the spread of fire and smoke.
✅ Have an escape plan – Make sure everyone in your home knows how to get out safely and where to meet outside.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Take five minutes this weekend to sit down with your family and talk about fire safety. It could be the most important conversation you have.
❤️ As we wrap up Fire Safety Week 2026, we'd like to thank everyone who stopped to chat with our crews, asked questions, shared our posts and helped spread the message throughout our community.
🚒 Remember, fire safety doesn't end when Fire Safety Week does!
🔥 KNOW THE ROOM. KNOW THE RISK. KNOW THE PERSON.
Stay safe from all the crew at Youghal Fire & Rescue. 🚒❤️

"🔥 FIRE SAFETY WEEK – THURSDAY 🔥
Today, take a moment to think about an older relative, neighbour, or someone living alone.

🚨 Would they hear the alarm?

🚪 Would they be able to get out safely?

Call in, check their smoke alarms are working, and have a quick chat about what they would do if a fire occurred. Sometimes a simple check-in could make all the difference. ❤️ 🚒 Youghal Fire & Rescue Know Your Room. Know the Risk."

🔥 FIRE SAFETY WEEK – CLOSE IT WEDNESDAY 🔥
🚪 Before you go to bed tonight, close the doors behind you.
As we continue Fire Safety Week and our theme “Know Your Room, Know the Risk”, today’s message is a simple one that could make a big difference.
A closed door can help slow the spread of fire and smoke, giving you and your family valuable extra time to react and escape.
🌙 Make it part of your bedtime routine:
✅ Test your smoke alarms
✅ Close internal doors
✅ Keep escape routes clear
✅ Make sure everyone in the house knows what to do if an alarm sounds
It only takes a few seconds.
🚪 Close it tonight. Make it a habit.
🚒 Our crews are out and about during Fire Safety Week. If you see us, pop over and have a chat — we’re always happy to answer any fire safety questions.

🚨 Test it Tuesday folks 🚨
Like most things, if its kept clean it will last longer 😊
Get the full 10 years out of your smoke alarm or up till the expiry date,

🚨 TEST IT TUESDAY – WHEN DID YOU LAST CLEAN YOUR SMOKE ALARMS? 🧹

We regularly remind you to TEST your smoke alarms, but testing isn’t the only thing to remember.

Over time, dust, cobwebs and insects can build up around your alarms and may affect how they work.

So this , give your alarms a little TLC! 🏠

🧹 Gently vacuum around your smoke alarms
🚫 Never paint over them
👆 Press the TEST button when you’re finished
📅 Remember to test them every week

It only takes a few minutes.

CLEAN IT. TEST IT. PROTECT YOUR HOME. ❤️

🔥 TEST IT TUESDAY! 🔥
It takes just a few seconds — push the button and make sure your smoke alarm is working! 🚨
💡 TOP TIP: When fitting a new alarm, write the expiry date (month & year) on the cover with a marker. That way, one quick look up tells you when it’s time to replace it — no taking it down to check!
✅ Test every Tuesday. Check the date. Stay safe. 🔥
