The Minor footballers played Rathgormack in Stradbally under lights on Wednesday evening
where the game finished in a well-deserved win on a score of 0:14 to 0:11. The players and
their families joined with the Breen/Keane family for Brendan’s months mind Mass on
Saturday night in Stradbally Chapel. They will now play Dungarvan in Stradbally on Sunday
18 th . On Sunday morning the Under 16s played group side An Gaeltacht in Stradbally where
the game ended in a draw at 1:10 each. They now play Rathgormack in Rathgormack on
Saturday next. As the under 16 and minor games are scheduled for consecutive days there
may be a change to one of those fixtures. The Senior footballers continued their campaign in
the Fraher Field against Gaultier in the Quarter Final where they finished losing on a
scoreline of 0:10 to 0:05. This completes their participation in the 2026 senior championship
and the team will retain their senior status next year. We still have minor football and under
16 to complete and under 20 championship which hasn’t started yet.

Super 10 competition for Under 14 Football.
On Friday night the under 14 footballers participated in the Under 14 football super 10
competition in a cold Clashmore. This team was confined to 10 players so the usual full
panel could not be used. We beat Brickey Rangers and Clashmore to reach the final where in
a closely contested game, our boys lost to Rathgormack by 3 points. Rathgormack had come
out on top in the other half of the draw played in Aglish and travelled over to Clashmore to
play the final. Stradbally will advance to the Munster competition at the end of the month as
one of the top two teams in the county. Like the hurling, the Munster competition will be 12
teams, two from each of the six Munster counties, in four groups of three and will be held
towards the end of October. For a small rural club this is a remarkable achievement.

Volunteers
As we wind down to the completion of the underage championships, the club would like to
acknowledge the unsung heroes who every week move willingly into position when a team
mentor asks “will you do umpire, linesman etc” Without the help of our volunteers every
week, we could not compete at the level and frequency we are participating in Division 1 and
2 in both codes now. The first aid people, those who cut and mark the pitches is becoming
increasingly demanding on club members and all help is appreciated. Ní neart go chuir le
Chéile.

Under 10s
Well done to the Under 10 girls who took part in a blitz hosted by Kilmac LGFA ON Friday
night last. They showed some great skill in a good display of football. The future looks
bright as some of these girls also played for their school on Thursday morning in Cappoquin.
