Cllr Gino O'Boyle and activists from the PBP Sligo branch were out again this evening in Cranmore, collecting signatures to stop the proposed council rent increase.

People Before Profit recently led a successful campaign in Tallaght that forced the council to back down on rent rises there - proof that people power works.

A huge victory against Council rent hikes in South Dublin CC just now.

A S.140 motion instructing the Council management not to proceed with their rent increase on 1 July passed 15 votes to 1. The sole vote against was shamefully the Labour Party. Other FF/FG/LP Cllrs boycotted.

Cllr Gino O’Boyle and activists from the PBP Sligo branch were out in Cranmore yesterday evening collecting signatures on our door-to-door petition against the proposed council rent increase.

Residents were clear — this hike is unaffordable and wrong. We’re taking that message directly to the council.

STOP THE COUNCIL RENT INCREASE

Sligo Co Council are trying to increase rent.

They want to take 300,000 euro off tenants but they are sitting on 360,000 in vacant site levys.

Cllr Gino O'Boyle is going to put a motion to the council to pay for repairs through the vacant site money.

We need people to sign our petition and get to the council on the day.

Last week, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill warned that fuel protestors might disrupt ambulance services in an effort to turn public opinion against them. One week on, the ball is in the government’s court.

If they truly care about preventing disruption, they can act now. Instead of forcing ambulance workers into strike action, they should meet their demands and deliver the pay deal these workers are fighting for.
