The 1st Year soccer team played their first game of the season in the cup against CBS Naas. Unfortunately, the result did not go our way, but the lads put in a great effort throughout the match.
All members of the match-day squad got valuable game time, which will stand to them as the season progresses. We now look forward to the league campaign and the opportunities ahead. Well done to all involved for their commitment and attitude. ⚽👏

There’s something very special about welcoming our own back home, particularly when they return as Leinster Champions! 🏆

Next Tuesday, 20th October, we are rolling out the welcome mat for our past pupils who were part of Westmeath’s historic 2026 Leinster Championship triumph, along with their teammates, manager Mark McHugh and members of the management team.

These are the days that make the GAA so special. The pride of the parish, the bond of the team, the joy of a county celebrating together and the inspiration these players are providing for the next generation of young footballers.

We are immensely proud to call some of these champions our own and we look forward to celebrating their achievements with the wider school and sporting community.

We would love you to join us as we give these lads the homecoming they deserve!

-Tuesday, 20th October
-5.45pm
-St Joseph’s Secondary School, Rochfortbridge – Assembly Hall

Join us for refreshments, stories from the championship campaign and a special Q&A with the men who brought Leinster glory to Westmeath.

Once a part of the Bridge, always a part of the Bridge. 💙

Our senior footballers got their championship campaign off to a winning start with a 9-16 to 2-11 victory over Malahide CS in Malahide today. Despite playing against the breeze in the first half St Joseph’s led at the half time whistle 3-6 to 0-4 with goals from Jack Duignan, Kian Campbell and Donnacha Briody. The Malahide keeper made a number of very good saves in the first half to keep his side in touch at half time. Sean Mullen made a good double save just before half time with a couple of important blocks on Malahide players attempting 2 point efforts.
Further goals at the beginning of the second half from Dean Kelly, Josh McGauran, Aidan Keogh and Jason Moran wrapped up a comfortable victory in the end. Our next group game is at home next Tuesday against St Pats Navan at 12 in Rochfortbridge. 🙌👏

Massive win for our U16 Boys Basketballers vs CBS Thurles in the A National Cup.
The win qualifies the lads for the last 8 of Ireland’s premier schoolboy basketball competition in their age group.
This is a tremendous achievement for a group of lads who are only in their 3rd year playing the game, their success in previous years has brought the school to basketball’s top table and we are so proud of the lads.
Bring on the quarter final 🤞👏

💙 The Liz Cahill Memorial Tournament 💙

Some events mean so much more than the result on the scoreboard and the Liz Cahill Memorial Tournament was one of those very special occasions in our school calendar.

This year’s tournament brought young camogie players from schools across our surrounding communities together to play, compete, laugh and enjoy the game that Liz loved so much. In so many ways, the day represented everything Liz herself brought to our school community: energy, friendship, kindness, fun, determination and a genuine love of bringing people together.

Liz was an exceptionally talented camogie player and a passionate coach, but what made her truly special went far beyond sport. She encouraged people, looked out for others and gave so generously of herself. Whether in the classroom, on the training field or simply in the everyday life of St Joseph’s, Liz had a wonderful ability to make people feel valued and included.

That was what made this tournament such a fitting way to remember and celebrate her.

To see young girls taking to the field, representing their schools, supporting one another and sharing in the joy of sport was tangible evidence of Liz’s spirit continuing to shine through.

Liz will always be part of the story of St Joseph’s. We miss her enormously, but we are incredibly proud that her warmth, passion, sense of fun and goodness continue to inspire another generation of young people.

A wonderful day, for a truly wonderful person. 💙

Forever one of us, Lizzie. 🤍

A fantastic performance from the junior lads in their first game of the season, away against Athboy.

The lads battled right until the end and were rewarded with a 1-0 victory, thanks to a dramatic last-minute winner from Kilian Dardis!

A brilliant team performance sees the lads advance to the next round of the Junior Leinster cup. 👏👏

As our Leaving Certificate and Junior Cycle students begin their examinations tomorrow, we want you to know that you are more prepared than you may realise. The knowledge, skills and habits you have built over many years have brought you to this point. Trust in the work you have done, trust in the support around you and trust in yourselves.

To our Sixth Year students, this marks the culmination of a journey that began when you first walked through our doors. We have had the privilege of watching you mature, overcome challenges and grow into remarkable young adults. You have shown determination, resilience and character throughout your time with us. Over the coming weeks, believe in your abilities and remember that you are capable of far more than you sometimes give yourselves credit for.

To our Junior Cycle students, we know that sitting your first state examinations can feel daunting. However, you have spent the last three years preparing for this moment. You have learned, practised, revised and persevered. The hard work has already been done; now it is simply your opportunity to show what you know. Approach each exam with confidence and take pride in how far you have come.

Most importantly, remember that you are not facing these weeks alone. We will be here to support, encourage and guide you throughout the examination period. We look forward to welcoming you each day and helping in any way that we can.

To every student sitting exams, we wish you the very best of luck. Walk into each exam knowing that you have prepared well, that you are capable, and that your worth is measured by so much more than any grade on any page.

Believe in yourselves, trust the process, and give it your best effort. The rest will take care of itself.

From all of us in St Joseph’s, good luck—we are proud of you already 💙
