Portarlington Credit Union "Providing Financial Services to our Members" Portarlington Credit Union opened for business in 1969. Member loans stand at €30.9m.

Membership has grown steadily since then and now stands at over 11,300 with share capital of €53.8m. Portarlington Credit Union started operations in rented premises in Main Street. In 1982 a new office was build in Crowe Street and in 1999 we moved to our present office on the Main Street. Portarlington is community based credit union. It is managed on behalf of the members by an elected Board of Directors of which there is 9 members. Quality of service to its members has been and continues to be the norm of the Board of Directors.

As part of our International Credit Union Day celebrations, we held a special prize draw throughout the day for all our lovely members who called into the office to celebrate with us!

What a fantastic morning celebrating International Credit Union Day!

We were delighted to welcome so many of our wonderful members into the office to celebrate with us yesterday! 🎉

It was a lovely morning filled with chats, smiles, plenty of tea, coffee and refreshments, and most importantly, a chance to catch up with our members.

We were delighted to welcome in our very own David Duffy from Courtwood GAA, Paddy O'Sullivan captain of Portarlington GAA and Aoife Cummins from St Conleths LGFA this morning to the office. We were delighted to recently present €500 in funding to St Conleths Gaelic For Mothers & Others team to support them as they continue to enjoy football, fitness and plenty of fun along the way!

It’s fantastic to see so many women getting out, getting active and enjoying all the social side of being part of a team too.

SEPA Instant Payments will be temporarily unavailable from approximately 5.15pm today, Wednesday 30 September, while essential work is carried out. We expect this to last for around one hour.

During this time, you can still send money as normal using the standard payment option through our Mobile App or Banking Online. Incoming payments may also be received as standard payments, depending on the sending bank.

SEPA Instant Payments will be back up and running as soon as the work is complete.

🏉 Supporting the next generation at Portarlington Rugby Club! 🏉

Shane, Michelle and Aisling from the Promotions and Development committee were delighted to visit Portarlington Rugby Club Friday morning to see the fantastic new dressing room facilities for their Minis, which Portarlington Credit Union was very proud to support with €5,000 in funding.

With the club continuing to grow and more children getting involved in rugby, the new facilities will provide much-needed extra space for their youngest players to get changed and ready for training and matches. 🏉

It’s fantastic to see so many young people getting involved in sport locally, and we’re so happy to have played a part in making these new facilities possible.

A big thank you to Eddie and Darragh & everyone in Portarlington Rugby Club for inviting us up to see the finished dressing rooms we hope the Minis enjoy them for many years to come! 💚

The Irish Farmers Journal is warning that warm, wet conditions are creating ideal conditions for a lungworm surge. Outbreaks typically follow a dry period when larvae build up on pasture, then spread rapidly once moisture returns. Young stock with no previous exposure are most at risk.

Signs include coughing, laboured breathing or loss of condition. If you are seeing any of these, talk to your vet promptly.

With a drought-affected silage crop going into pits this year, Teagasc is urging farmers to test silage quality before winter feeding begins. Teagasc highlighted that heat-stressed crops could present lower energy values than expected, meaning animals may need supplementary feed earlier and in higher quantities than planned.
