150 New Recruits Begin Their Defence Forces Journey

Today at 10:00hrs, JITC Gormanston Camp, Co. Meath, welcomed 150 new recruits who will begin their military careers with the Army, Naval Service and Air Corps.

This is the largest intake of recruits in recent years and marks the start of an exciting new chapter for our newest members of the Defence Forces.

Family members were invited to Gormanston to see where their loved ones will undertake the next 12 weeks of Initial Recruit Training. During this time, they will develop the skills, knowledge and discipline needed to become qualified Defence Forces personnel before moving on to their new units.

Personnel and equipment from all three Services were also on display, giving the recruits and their families an opportunity to meet serving members, find out more about the different careers and hear first-hand about what lies ahead.

A very warm welcome to all 150 recruits and their families as they begin their journey with the Defence Forces.
