This National Fire Safety Week, Kildare Fire Service are joined by Kildare GAA stars Johnny Doyle and Laoise Lenehan to encourage everyone to take simple steps to reduce the risk of fire at home.

This year's theme is Know the Room, Know the Risk, Know the Person.

Older men living alone are being particularly encouraged to check their smoke alarms, be aware of fire risks in the home and plan a safe escape route.

If you have an older relative, friend or neighbour living alone, take a few minutes to check in and make sure their smoke alarms are working.
