With today marking the final day of Climate Action Week, we thought it would be fitting to share some exciting news with you all!

As many of you know, the club was awarded funding over the summer for a brand-new, state-of-the-art water-to-water geothermal heat pump. Our previous heat pump had served us well for 24 years, far exceeding its expected lifespan!

We’re delighted to announce that next season, we’ll be opening with a brand-new geothermal heat pump that will provide heating for both pools. 🏊‍♀️ 🏊‍♂️

As a club, we are incredibly grateful to Climate Action Carlow and Carlow County Council for providing the funding to make this project possible. A special thank you also goes to Jennifer Collier and Mark Clancy at the Climate Action Carlow offices for all their help and support throughout the process.

This is a fantastic investment in the future of our club, helping us take another positive step towards sustainability while ensuring our pools are ready to welcome everyone next season.
We’re already looking forward to next summer! ☀️💦

After reading a recent report published by Swim Ireland, one statistic really stood out:
**Swimming is the most popular sport for people with disabilities, yet only 48% of pools in Ireland reported having a pool hoist.**
We have had a pool hoist (hydraulic chair) for almost 14 years, providing an important facility for people with disabilities to enjoy swimming.

Unfortunately, towards the end of this past season, our chair broke down due to a faulty circuit board. Thankfully, with the help of our local councillors, Andy Cllr Gladney, Cllr Michael Doran and Cllr Thomas Kinsella, we were able to have a new circuit board supplied and fitted, getting our pool hoist back working like NEW!

We may be a seasonal pool, but we want to spread the word that **WE DO HAVE A POOL HOIST AVAILABLE!**
We are proud to be part of that 48%, and our hydraulic chair is available to anyone with a disability who needs it. We want everyone to know that our facility is here to help make swimming more accessible and inclusive for all.
A huge thank you to Andy, Michael and Thomas for their support in helping us keep this vital piece of equipment in working order.

Accessibility matters. Inclusion matters. And everyone deserves the opportunity to enjoy the water.

Photo attached shows JoJo & Mary presenting a cheque for €1,000 to the Beaumont Hospital Foundation. Our Water Safety Ireland - Carlow Gala raffle this year raised almost €500, which was generously matched by Bagenalstown Swimming Club on the day.

The team at the Beaumont Hospital Foundation do amazing work day in, day out, and we at the swimming club are delighted to support them. We are also very glad to see JoJo getting on so well. A huge thank you to everyone who supported our raffle and helped make this donation possible.
