We have a lot of thank yous to say after the last few weeks at the tidal pool.
Seaweed - as lovely & natural as it is, it becomes a real pain in the behind when it gathers & sits on the base of the poolπ«π«
Attempt to clean number one
We were due to power wash but unfortunately had to cancel last minute, the pool was already empty so a few favours were called in & thankfully a few of the lads from the Rural Social Scheme & a few from the RNLI station mucked in to save the day & we were back in action. ππΌππΌππΌ
A few days later the Irish weather βοΈβοΈmixed with exceptionally high tides ππbrought rough waves & MORE seaweed, ALOT MORE SEAWEED π«π«
It was so rough the seaweed was even washed up onto the road & the ringbuoys with their boxes were damaged & missing.
We had to wait for tides to lower & weather to improve to assess the pool & walkway area. There was so much seaweed dumped in the pool that you could stand on it in the deep end π€’ & so attempt to clean number two was organised.
Tuesday - Thanks to Ray & Michael from Mayo CoCo who cleared the stones from the walkway, the seaweed from the pool railings & replaced the ringbuoys.
Wednesday evening- after adult lessons finished, the pool was opened to drain.
The aim was to try to move some of the seaweed as the water was dropping but it was so heavy it kept blocking the outlet π«
After 2&1/2 hours pulling & dragging in the dark we had to give up. 10pm the HELP txt went out for the following morning.
Thursday morning we were delighted to see a crew rock up with shovels & brushes ready to get stuck in.
Again a big thank you to the RSS lads and to our swimmers/ parents/ neighbours that came to help on a wet morning - many hands make light work πͺπ
Thursday afternoon & Friday morning was spent giving it a deep clean in preparation for the Winter months & the pool was refilled by the tide on Friday evening π
The weather will be against us over the next few months so if your in for a dip & see seaweed floating or on the walls give it a toss over the wall to try stop it sinking π€
Thanks again everyone, happy Swimming β€οΈπππΌ
