Great interagency work by all today.Great outcome.

Today our Team were tasked to a search in North Cork. Dee & Search Dog “Boots” along with Support from Trainee Handler Jean Louise, worked tirelessly over tough terrain. They searched multiple areas of interest, working closely with Cork North and East Civil Defence and Abbeyfeale SAR. The missing person was found, safe and well. Great interagency team work and dedication from multiple voluntary groups.

This weekend we had the pleasure of 3 guest instructors Bob Flynn and Elizabeth Hanley from Offaly Civil Defence and O Connor from Kerry Civil Defence who shared their time, knowledge, skills and experience so generously to teach and certify 15 of our volunteers in the Civil Defence and Cycling Ireland responder course. The course was interesting, challenging and enjoyable. The instructors were great and there were alot of laughs throughout the weekend. Huge thanks to all the volunteers who showed their commitment and great teamwork throughout the weekend. A special thanks to Munster Driving Campus who allowed us to use their off road facility for valuable scenario training in a safe environment. Great work and well done to everyone who participated and helped out throughout the weekend. 🚴🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️🚲

It is with a heavy heart we have sad news to share with you all. One of our volunteers Eric Keane from Mallow sadly passed away last night. Eric was a member of Civil Defence Cork North & East for almost 2 years and gave his time whenever he could. His loss will be felt throughout the unit. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
