This Thursday at Kinnegad library

Many robberies are taking place not just in our homes or businesses but also through elaborate online scams. This Thursday, the 8th October, at 11 a.m. in Kinnegad Library, Sgt. Brian Stones is presenting a talk not just about protecting our homes but also about protecting ourselves online. The talk is free, and I have attended it before and found it very informative and full of very practical advice.

Kinnegad library is celebrating Culture Night on Friday 18th September by asking members of the public to come share their memories of the old schoolhouse. Do you have a connection to the old schoolhouse - as a past pupil, a music maker, or simply someone who holds fond memories of the building? Call in for a cuppa and a chat with the librarians as we celebrate local heritage together from 4-6pm.

Following repeated representations I have made to Westmeath County Council and to our local Minister Burke and Minister Robert Troy , the council has just prioritised the Kinnegad Enterprise, Innovation & Co-Working Hub for one of two government funding applications. The other is the public realm of Castlepollard. We will know later this year if our funding under Rural Regeneration has been approved. The proposal for the site adjacent to our new library is for a Kinnegad Enterprise, Innovation & Co-Working Hub, which involves the refurbishment and extension of the Master's House, transforming a vacant protected structure into a modern enterprise, innovation, training and collaboration facility, with subprojects seeking to increase accessibility to the site and improve pedestrian linkages.
Total Estimated Project Cost €7.7 M
RRDF Grant Funded Element €6.2M
Match Funding Required €1.5M
I will keep you updated on the progress of this exciting application.
