So sad to think that this kind of landscape is so becoming so rare in Ireland. You hear stories of the destruction of Merlin woods in Galway and the threat of Navan Rail destroying this, you got to wonder is there any point in making environmental laws in the first place

A dug out wasp nest (paper wasp or common wasp Vespula vulgaris). Badgers dig them out for the nutricious larvae which would be high in protein. The nests themselves are made from paper - wood pulp and saliva, and would have a number of layers housing possibly 1,000 to 2,000 wasps. These visible wasps are remaining but the colony would effectively be destroyed
