We were delighted to welcome Dylan, the Knight for Hire, back to the library for a fascinating living-history experience with pupils from Scoil Mocheallóg, Kilmallock and Kilbehenny N.S. Through storytelling, historical objects, armour and a hands-on approach, Dylan gave students a wonderful opportunity to explore the past and gain a deeper understanding of what life was really like in times gone by.

On Tuesday 6th October @ 6.30pm, Kilmallock Library will host William T. O’Neill, Limerick Civic Trust as part of the Limerick History Festival. William’s lecture is entitled Limerick, 1916 – The people, the places, and the flag. 1916 was a year of revolution. For the first time in centuries, Ireland had seen its first truly successful blow against the British government. There are numerous reasons for this, which will be explored in the talk. The lecture will also focus on the people of Limerick who contributed, the places in Limerick where the Irish Volunteers were strongest, and how Limerick was due to participate in the Rising itself. This illustrated talk will feature many famous figures, as well as some lesser known stories. All welcome.
