🗣 New speech and language resources available to borrow now 🗣

We have just received a wonderful set of 11 See and Learn speech, language and reading kits.

See and Learn Speech is designed to teach young children to hear and produce speech sounds (phonemes), to hear the differences between sounds (discrimination), to develop their speech sound system (phonology), and to produce clear speech. It can also help children to identify sounds in words (phonological awareness) which is important for reading.

Share this information with a parent, teacher, SNA, or anyone who might find these resources useful.

Many thanks to Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht for supplying us with these great resources!

📖 Dearest Child - a memory collecting project 📖

Traditional singer and folklorist Rachel Uí Fhaoláin and the residents of Oakfield Nursing Home have been working on a very special memory collecting project. All are invited to come along on Friday 2nd October at 2.30pm and hear the residents performing their song ‘Dearest Child,’ and presenting some of the important recording work that they have collected so far as part of their award-winning project.

This promises to be a great event tomorrow at Bunclody Library!

Wexford Reads Festival - In Conversation with author Shauna Lawless at Bunclody Library, Thursday 24th September at 7.00pm

Join us for the next Wexford Reads Festival author visit featuring acclaimed historical fantasy fiction author Shauna Lawless in conversation.

Shauna Lawless is an avid reader of the mythology, folklore and history of Ireland. Her love for all these things inspired her to write the Gael Song, a historical fantasy series chronicling some of the most turbulent wars of medieval Ireland.
Her critically acclaimed debut novel in the Gael Song series, The Children of Gods and Fighting Men, was nominated for Best Debut at the British Fantasy Awards. Shauna has also been awarded the Chrysalis Award by the European Science Fiction Society. She lives in Northern Ireland with her family, and when she is not with them, you can find her writing her stories or curled up with a good book.
