A little appreciation post for our General Manager Marie Therese Costello.

For Marie Therese, hospitality is more than a profession. It is a lifelong passion.

Having studied at César Ritz Colleges in Switzerland and Shannon College of Hotel Management, Marie Therese has built an international career spanning Disney and the Middle East, bringing Glin Castle a wealth of experience and exceptional service standards.

Known for her genuine warmth, intuitive understanding of people and exceptional attention to detail, Marie Therese believes that true luxury lies in making every guest feel special.

With an extensive network of trusted contacts and deep knowledge of Ireland's Midwest and its hidden gems, she delights in creating unique, personalised experiences that exceed expectations.

As guests have so beautifully expressed:

“You met us exactly where we were and somehow took us higher and deeper.”

“Thank you for a trip of a lifetime, filled with fun and memories, which you brought to life with your competence, grace and spirit.”

“Thank you for giving us all a home-away-from-home experience that none of us will soon forget.”

For Marie Therese, the greatest reward is creating memories that last a lifetime.

“I love what I do, and together with my wonderful team, I take pride in creating those thoughtful, personal touches that make every stay at Glin Castle truly unforgettable.”

Entirely, exclusively yours.
When you book Glin Castle, there are no other guests and no shared spaces. The castle and gardens are for your group alone, with up to 30 guests across 15+ ensuite bedrooms and views over the Shannon estuary.
Picture grandparents by an open fire while the children head off across the grounds, getting happily lost, finding hidden corners of the garden and racing back in time for dinner. Days can be as lively or as slow as your family likes, from archery and falconry to a quiet walk under the old oaks.
Fully staffed and catered, so no one has to play host.

House & Garden Magazine..
A scene from Glin Castle, the ancestral home of Catherine FitzGerald, who, along with her husband Dominic West, has rescued it from being sold and committed to making it a going concern. Glin is now a beacon of culture and employment in the local economy. The castle's history is a turbulent and romantic one, with a captivating cast of heroes, villains, aesthetes and artists that continues to the present day. Thrilled to have a visit from Tom Wall who came to tea yesterday - Tom worked in and developed the gardens here for over 40 years and is a bit of an all round legend in this neck of the woods! We also welcomed wonderful Hazel Hourigan who is making a plantation of oaks at the family farm in Murroe. She has collected acorns from many different locations ensuring a broad provenance and gene pool for her oaks - from Derravarragh and Tullynally in Westmeath and schonbrunn Palace Austria, Coollatin Co Wicklow and Glenstal Abbey Co Limerick - it will be a fascinating on going project seeing how they develop ….it was a very jolly afternoon collecting acorns ( though it’s not a plentiful year for them)

I love this pic of the incredible social reformer and writer Charlotte Grace O’Brien (1845-1909) with her cat on her shoulder. 💚 She is a great inspiration. She lived in nearby Foynes and made the most wonderful herbarium with her friend the distinguished botanist Matilda Knowles (1864-1933) of the plants they found whilst exploring the woods meadows marshes and shoreline around Mount Trenchard, Foynes and the Barony of Shanid - the work culminating in this beautiful “Flora of the Barony of Shanid.” Many of these are sadly not easy to find any more. We were so lucky to be taken around by Limerick Museum Dr Zara Power and Dr Mathew Potter - and so much thanks to Dr Declan Downey for arranging it all. It’s the most fascinating museum.

Just back from a wonderful visit to Attyflin Estate, Ireland where wonderful Margaret O’Looney showed us round the impressive fruit growing in their Walled garden and their beautiful restored stable yards before sampling this seasons Glin Castle apple juice! Thank you to Margaret - and Brian O Connell the genius behind the glorious county Limerick fruit growing operation that is Attyflin - for agreeing to take and press our apples - our guests are going to love it at breakfast each morning! See our crate of juice about to be taken to glin - plus a bottle at breakfast this morning! ( variety mainly Katy) also their delicious honey and apple c***r vinegar!
